... they finally mention Still's Disease (what DW MeanLaureen has) on "House."

Y'all should have heard the shriek from Lauri when it was diagnosed.

After hearing various meds mentioned and saying "tried it," she'd been wondering when they would mention it. It's been a running joke with us that they keep talking about autoimmune diseases but never mention Still's, but didn't think they would mention it since it's rare.

LOL...I am watching right night and I immediately thought of Lauri!

My DGram was diagnosed with AOSD a few years ago, but frankly I don't think she ever had it because she is fine now. She thinks she had some kind of malaria and I think that is much more likely.

Hope Lauri is feeling better and once the Christmas season is over I hope she can rest!

I think it's great that Still's Disease was mentioned, but not that your wife has it. I know this is off topic (and the first post) but my mom told me last week that TSC was mentioned once. That made me happy, because I'm doing a research paper on TSC for Language Arts.

:]

I know how she feels. I freaked out when the diagnosis was Celiac's Disease on an episode from last season. My best friend turned to me and goes OMG you have that!

Yeah, they mentioned my disease twice last year. One time it was one of the back stories and they got it all wrong! :lmao:

Oh my.

ROFL, Matt!!

I was watching, and immediately thought of the wild redhead. :happytv:

LOL Kathy!

We thought House said Still's to Cameron at his apartment but weren't sure. Then when Cameron got back to the hospital and told Cutty "he thinks it's Still's", Lauri literally shrieked so loud she made me jump.

Well, the Still's diagnosis turned out to be the "initial diagnosis that turns out to be the wrong one right before they determine the right one." When they talk about autoimmune diseases, lupus always comes up, but Still's is very rare. It just became a joke between us about when and if it might be mentioned.

What's weird is that earlier today Lauri went to the doctor for an ear infection .. and what was one of the girl's symptoms.

Oh, and House's claim that gabapentin doesn't work well for pain? Well, Lauri takes that and she doesn't see much help from it.

:thumbsup2 Sending continued prayers for Laurie's improvement. Great these ailments/diseases that many of us know nothing about are getting some recognition. I almost flipped when 'Guillain Barre' was on one series. My good IL friend has remained very ill for yrs from this crippling so called virus.

Tonight's episode was very difficult for me to watch :sad1:. I lost a younger brother to a heart attack from presc meds and alcohol combination and to see House strung out semi conscious on the floor was just so sad and heartbreaking :worried:. Being such a popular show, I'd love to see him set some kind of an example and really try to get himself together. :guilty:

Case of the week spoiler please? (since I can't stand the story arc with the cop right now, please tell me he's gone soon)

I can't remember the official name of the final diagnosis but they found out that the teenager (her mom was a dwarf and initially it was thought she was a dwarf) had some type of tumor or obstruction in the base of her neck (Help me here, we missed part of it) and it stunted her growth and was making her sick. They said that once removed they could boost her growth hormones and she would grow to a normal height. At first she refused to take the medicine to make her hormones kick in because she wanted to stay like her mom, but House convinced them that she should do it in his usual "less than complimentary" way.

And don't expect the cop to be gone soon. Wilson ratted House out, they offered him a plea bargain of rehab. House stole pills (a dead man's scrpt for Oxy) from the pharmacy and OD'd on them. By the time he went to the cop and accepted the plea bargain, the cop had found out about the Oxy through the pharmacy log and took the bargain off the table. House is looking at jail time now and so is Wilson because he said he wouldn't testify against House.

I don't see this storyline going away soon. Shame, really. I don't like how it's interfering with the show, just like I didn't like that jerk that they had as a hospital administrator (the rich guy?) that wanted to get rid of House. The show is good on it's own just with the medical storylines. I wish they wouldn't do this "will House be fired" nonsense strung out through the season.

Oh and another very authentic part of the show.. when House cut himself and told Cameron that it releases endorphins and helps with the pain.. I've seen Lauri do similar things when her pain is so intense that she can't stand it. Not necessarily cutting herself all the time but I've seen her smash her hand or leg with something. We never knew there was a reason why.. she just said that when she hurt herself in another place, it helped her deal with pain. I always thought it was weird and made no sense.. now it does. It's not pretty, but it makes sense now.

There was another story on, I think one from Last season, where a Cop had some strange symptoms, and it turned out it was from the Pigieon Poop. There were Pigieons Deficating in a big tank of water, he was using for his Pot plants, he would smoke the pot, and there fore, got the "disease". I actually know someone that had that happen to them, only in the Islands, and he could say the Disease name, but I can't. ;) I think it was Strip O crock co litus or something like that! ;)

Strepococcus is a type of bacteria, some of which can cause disease. Is that what is was?

I didn't realize Lauri had Still's! My doctor actually mentioned it last week after all my RA and lupus tests came back negative, yet I'm still running a temp of 101 and having joint pain (since the beginning of November!)

I'm going to go google it!
