Holy Cow!! Just got a great price for a van in OCTOBER!!!

I am having no luck. We are there 9/19-9/26. Did anyone get it for that time period?
My plan today was to shop around and see if I could get a good deal. I was so excited. I guess its not my lucky day today.

But my search has just started.

Wow, I am seriously considering this. Is it better to drive to the parks in this?? I have no idea how well I can drive one of these things though! I'm thinking it could be faster than disney transportation?? Since I have never been to wdw...if you drive to the parks do you still have to pay even though you are onsite? Is it a long walk from the parking lots?

It can be faster to drive your own vehicle to the park versus bus transportation. I've had some trips where it felt like we had to wait a while for buses then other trips where I just walked up and the bus was pulling in. It's never faster to drive to MK because you have to park at TTC then catch the monorail, ferry - whatever over to the entrance.

Ok, one more question. What visa code? And what box do you put it in? Is it for using the disney visa?
Does the bj's code go into the coupon box? I would rather just pay the $100 for this van then to order the grocery delivery service, etc!

Wonder why this is so cheap? I hope they don't have a glitch and then change their minds and fix it...

When you are on the Alamo site putting in the dates and so forth there is a button right underneath that says "other options." Click on this and the boxes will appear for you to be able to enter your codes. There you'll enter the Visa code into the "Contract ID" box. You'll see the coupon box right under the contract id box. The $25 off coupon is the best deal in this situation. Pay with your visa card.

Well, DH was wanting a vehicle big enough for his golf clubs along with our luggage. This would probably work!;)

Wait a minute--how much is gas gonna cost for a 15 passenger van?! That may negate any savings right there!

I would budget $75 but $40 at bare minimum. The $75 should take care of an entire tank of gas easily even if the cost of gas per gallon goes up a bit.

I saw this deal also last night while checking prices for October. We rented this van for six adults and all the luggage a few years ago. Just want to let you all know this thing is BIG. They had a little plastic step to use to get into it and believe me we needed it.

Just want you all to be aware of the size. :scared1:

I did not get it this time, I am hoping the prices drop a bit.

Yes, it is important for folks to know this. My husband has an F350 P/U truck w/extended cab and extended bed and a Ford dump truck, so is very comfortable driving large vechicles. It might be too much for some folks. Since we're staying at the BWV in October, we'll only need it for meals and MK and AK and transport to and from the airport.

At that rate, you can be a bus service! Grab some people at the bus stop and offer them a ride with you to the parks!

Not sure if this deal is dead now, but I tried my exact dates (that I booked) and the van no longer comes up as an option. Maybe they sold out for my dates because it's not even on the page anymore. I knew it wouldn't last long because they can't have that many vans. I will be checking my reservation to make sure it doesn't get modified.

I was thinking the same thing!

Here is a comparison of the cars offered by Alamo and the MPG (city/hwy). If you don't need a bigger car *and* you plan to drive a lot the "savings" may evaporate right out of the gas tank.

Chevy Express - 15 Passenger Van - 13/16 MPG
Chevy Cobalt - Compact Car - 22/30 MPG
Pontiac G6 - Mid size Car - 22/30 MPG
Pontiac Grand Prix - Full Size Car - 18/28 MPG
Toyota Sienna - Minivan - 17/23

If you can fit in a compact or mid size it will cost you nearly DOUBLE to drive the Express.

It must be that they've sold out for your dates - I just tried my dates again (11/27-12/6) and it still comes up.

Yes, I guess they sold out during my timeframe. I did book. I told my husband, who has a dump truck (gets 8 mpg). He said beware, they are not easy to park. We'll decide whether or not we'll keep it later, but for now I have a reservation.

I tried and it did not work, but here is what I found for our dates:

Dollar-Regal Sun
12/21-12/28
MiniVan grand total 282.71

I used the Bj's wholesale club code!!

Maybe it could help someone in October

I take that back. I just checked again - the rate jumped from $125 to over $1200. I also played around with other dates, and couldn't find the same deal. Looks like they may have pulled the deal.

If you haven't driven a large vehicle then I'd have to second the suggestion of not renting this van. We drive a full size Chevy truck. Yeah, they are not known for tight turning radius.

For typical WDW vacationers you probably won't go beyond a 1/2 tank of gas. Yeah, van cost more in gas but the compacts were running $300 for my dates. $109 for the van - $75 in gas at the most = a very good deal to us. Plus, they only had a Toyota Sienna that accommodated 8 people but they can't guarantee it. They cling to "or similiar" verbage and we would be stranded. I seriously just cancelled all my reservations then this popped up.

Off to go check and make sure they didn't mess with my fabulous bargain. I don't see anything saying they can change the rate on it after we've reserved it. We didn't use an usual code so I think they'd have to honor the rate.

I know this is a wild idea but i am thinking of calling alamo and asking if that price was right and if it was would they rather give me a intermediate size car instead for the same price. I was going to explain to them that i only chose that one because it was the cheapest by a long shot. I would think they would be better off giving me a smaller car and trying to get 1200.00 for the van especially if thats what its going for now...i know its a long shot and i doubt they will do it..but what do i have to loose right?

i did call alamo and she told me it might be a mistake but they will have to honor the price if you book it when you go pick up your car thats when i would try to down size for the same price we have 2 vans booked for 9 people and we dont need the vans but booked them because of the price we would much rather have 2 full size cars

I just checked again for when my neighbour would want the van and the 15 passenger van did not show up. I don't know if they are all booked or if they have figured out that the prices are coming up too low.

Just wondering if anyone was contacted regarding this rental. I have one reserved.

Alamo contacted me about 10 days ago...worked with me and downsized me to a minivan at the same rate. I received the email confirmation and the agent instructed me to bring both the original confirmation and the new email confirmation with me for pickup as the new confirmation does not show the pricing.
The number on my caller ID was a Missouri number-Alamo's customer service is in St. Louis.

Has anyone picked up their van rental yet. Just wondering if there's been any issues. I just logged in this weekend and filled in our pre-information. I warned my DH that they may call now since they have our info. We're OK with the van or a minivan if they want to downgrade us. But you can't beat the price.

We're flying into MCO on your same day only at 4:00pm. I can't find a rental car for under $230.00 + fees/taxes and I have been searching for a long time. :headache:

Too bad we aren't getting in earlier....I'd ask you for a lift to USO! (I know you'd have the room). :rotfl:

That's an idea....a bus service to the dark side. (BTW -- we get in at 10:30AM)
