Holy cow! I actually got the diamond settlement check!

Remember forever and ago when it was all over the news (and on here) that if you'd purchased any diamonds over a certain time period, you could fill out a claim online to be part of a huge lawsuit against DeBeers? Well I laughed about it a little, knowing that with SO many people filing a claim, we'd be lucky to get $3 or so (for my engagement ring purchase in 2000, which is lovely, but not a kaching$$ price to start with). But hey...it was easy to do, so why not.

Then, like almost everyone, I completely forgot about it.

I was pretty shocked to open my mail last night and find a check. And it was for $60! Okay, not a windfall or anything. But way more than I expected, and who doesn't like getting a check in the mail. Besides, I'm setting up a nursery over here, and that's like 3.5 cloth diapers! From diamonds to diapers...seems poetic

Congratulations on the settlement check and on your expected bundle of joy! Like you said, it's $60 that you would not have had if it were not for taking the time to file.

I'm still waiting on a slamming settlement from Verizon. It could be pretty big if they refund all the money that should never have been charged to my account. It's good to know that people actually do get their settlements.

We got $16 and $108! I had to sit and read and re read it yesterday to recall what it was from! It was from like 2008! haha

Just in time, my dd's summer camp payment was due this week!

I got mine too. A bit over $150. I had to research it to make sure it wasn't a scam because I forgot all about it!

This has been a running joke in DH's family the past several years, we're all waiting for our diamond settlement windfalls.

But, what do you know, the checks DID start showing up yesterday! Mom and a brother got theirs yesterday ($50 - $70 range.). I'll be watching the mail today for mine!

I was surprised to get mine yesterday as well. The $94.98 will offset the $40 camera speeding ticket that also arrived yesterday from the night my husband picked us up at the airport coming home from Disney. Glad they arrived at the same time or I would have been even more upset with DH.
