A jacket under a parka?

They would never make it in Chicago. 9 degrees is no big deal, try -20 and 10 mph wind, that's cold!!!!:thumbsup2

An instead of walking through in a swimsuit, try jumping in a frozen lake in 10 degrees weather. That is a true polar bear!:goodvibes

Here! Here! I was thinking the same thing! Even though they are transplants, they shouldn't forget there roots.

Which begs the question...how do you jump into a frozen lake? Don't ya bounce?:rotfl:

BTW, you're not a TRUE polar bear unless you jump into the ocean in January and February....barefoot through the snow, straight into the icy surf.

I'm not crazy enough to jump into a frigid lake.

But I'd gladly give up the winters here. I don't like driving through or shovelling snow. :headache:

I'm a Floridian originally from Ewa Beach, Hawaii. I haven't forgotten my roots, but that doesn't help me in the cold weather.

I'm sure the Floridians are thinking the same thing about you northerners every time they hear someone whine about the heat, humidity, and rain during the summer!

Ah yes...The preverbial "other side of the coin". So true, so true. :thumbsup2

I like the season changes.

I love the HOT, Animal Kingdom hot, days in the summer, and I love the bitterly cold days in the winter. :lmao:

The crispness of those fall days and the excitement that winter is over in the spring makes for a wonderful year! :cool1:

Here Here!!! I have been in Florida for 29 years (CA for the one year of my life before that) and I will not deny that yesterday, when it was 30some degrees when I woke up, I put on tights and sweat pants, 2 shirts, a sweatshirt and a winter coat, my pink fuzzy warm socks and sneakers - before I even considered opening the front door. If you think that's bad, you should have seen my 2 year old...
If that makes me a wimp, I am cool with that. Northerners are just jealous of our close proximity to the beloved Mouse (35min drive for me :cloud9: ), our beautiful beaches and year round tans...JK
The one thing I might be a little jealous of Northeners for - the Holidays actually feeling like the holidays because it isn't 85 degrees on Christmas...lol

In my part of FL if the temps dip down into the 60s the winter coats are being pulled out. It was 28 the other morning and I had my winter coat on, a scarf, the car seat heater going, car heater and was still cold!

That's me! :rotfl2:

My husband and I are native Floridians and we have very thin blood! :rotfl: We actually both come from a long line of native Floridians so I guess it is in the blood!

We have had sweaters under thick coats, hats, scarfs, gloves the past few days! My DH believes strongly in hats on the kids in weather under 65! :cold: I am still in my warm flannel pj's and robe and it is probably in the 50's now!

We may be wimpy, but we love our FLA weather because we know we wont be getting blizzard, snow, ect....:thumbsup2

Well aren't you a glass half full kinda guy! :thumbsup2 :teeth:

When it's 9 degrees we rejoice because at least there's a presence of some heat. Once it gets to zero and below, well then there's no heat at all... It's really odd that you can actually feel the difference between zero and 10 degrees above zero. You know how 40 degrees feels so cold in the fall, but in the spring, it's downright balmy. :sunny:

:scared1: 9 degrees?!?!?!? Double :scared1: 'below zero'.

My Sister lives in West Palm. I love it when she calls me in the morning boo-hooing that's 50. Cry me a river.

Well, being originally from Maine (and being there a few times through the winter), I don't think I need the cold to make it "feel" like the Holidays.

Shortly after Thanksgiving, I am putting up the outdoor Christmas tree and I will be enjoying it. Will take my time putting up the lights and not having to freeze my "you-know-what" off.

Once the decorations are up, it WILL feel like Christmas.

You don't hear most Floridians moaning about the heat in the summer as much as the tourists do.

True!!

My aunt from NY calls me a true Floridian because I will wear a heavy sweater, a coat and jeans and still have on my flip flops. It's habit.

All I know is I sure wish I was in Florida. We were just there at the end of October and were complaining how cold we were and then we got home and it turned winter here while we were gone. I wish I would have enjoyed the weather more while i was there. It is 1 degree F right now and is suppose to get cold tonight like it was last night and with the windchill it is suppose to feel like -13 degrees F.
