Holter monitor

I went to the dr as I was having rapid pulse rates. 90 - 100. So she suggests wearing 24 hour holter mointor and of course, now, nothing is going on. Doesnt it figure??

That happened with mine too and then I ended up having to wear the stupid thing for 10 days to try to catch something!

I had the same thing happen when I had to wear one for heart palpitations. Wore the thing for 24 hours and nothing! Darned frustrating!

I had one for 24 hours too..I told the Doctor, sorry nothing happened and he said Yes it did, you were sleeping and it wasn't enough to wake you...so wait for the results you never know.

Wore one for 48 hours and then waited for the results. My general practice doctor called to apologize saying something must have been wrong with the unit and i'd have to repeat the test.

Got hooked up again. Once my GP got the results he called me. Not his office manager or nurse. The doc called. Said he made an appointment with a cardiologist. That day. No time to wait to sort out transport from a family member - take a taxi and go, now. And, by the way, be prepared to have a pacemaker implanted when you go.

I would rather have a perfectly normal Holter monitor test.

I am a cardiology nurse practitioner and I would send you for an "event" monitor....if I don't see anything on your holter then I would send you for a event monitor (you wear it for 21 days) that way we can hopefully catch something....I hope you feel better soon...

Well the drs office called today. I guess the monitor did its job even if I did not feel it. My pulse is between 83 - 113. Dr is putting me on toprol to bring the heart rate down. Have to see her in 2 weeks.

You may also want to have your thyroid checked. This was one of my symptoms prior to finding out I had hyperthyroidism due to Graves disease. Although my rate was higher.

I've had 6 24 hour holter monitors, 3 2 day monitors and 3 2 weeks holter monitors and i've been lucky in that they have all caught something.

over a 24 hour period, my heart rate averages 145 BPM and my high is usually 180 at rest.

My brother got his holter monitor this morning and a few hours later his Dr. called and told him he didn't like what he saw. He sent him to the ER immediately. I'm home with his kids waiting for an update.
