We are going to WDW in January and we have an ADR for Hollywood & Vine one night. I know it is a buffett and something about special seats to Fantasmic....but did anyone like it?? Not like it?

TIA!

The first time we ate here, we weren't thrilled, but decided to give it another try and REALLY enjoyed it the second time. The first time, we were both tired and a little sick and our waitress wasn't great, so I think that kinda overshadowed the food itself. But they have lots of great food options....My favorite was the pasta dishes, they had some wonderful cold, pasta salads. BIL loved the steak they served best. All of us loved the desserts! :earboy2: We had 6 adults and all of us were very pleased. It is a buffet, but a yummy buffet! Check out the menu on allearsnet.com for more specific foods...I can't remember everything we had, I just remember LOVING that pasta!!

Thanks for the input!!! Yeah, my family seems to do well with buffets...if you dont like it just go get something else!

Anybody else have some reviews?

We went there the trip before last. Vowed never to return. Our waitstaff was slow in picking up plates or refilling drinks. The buffet was messy and the food wasn't that great. The only good thing that happened is that one lady there said that my kids were the best behaved in the whole place! :rotfl: We didn't like it and switched to Brown Derby last trip. We will definitely be repeating our trip in February!

We did the Fantasmic dinner package in July and selected Hollywood and Vine. My family liked it. I thought the buffet selection was great. The selection seemed broad enough to appeal to everyone in our family.

BTW, went to Mama Melrose's in Aug. (another choice for the Fantasmic dinner package) Liked that too.

Just went to H & V last week - everyone in my family enjoyed it, pleased with selection and service. Would not hesitate to return there again.

We there last year for the fantasmic pkg i was not thrilled about it at all but again this trip we are going there again and i'm not looking foward to it the only reason why is because Mama Rosas doesn't have any openingd that day but i'm going to call again just to see if there is an opening at all

When you say "something about special seats" you are referring to the Fantasmic Dinner Package. You are not automatically given the special seats just because you ate at H&V. You must specify when you make your ADR that you are booking the pakage.

Maybe you already know this, but I just don't want someone to go there and expect the FDP if they haven't booked it. It doesn't cost any extra, so if you're eating there anyway, you might as well book it. :flower:

As for H&V we loved it. The food was fresh, and not your typical "Golden Coral" buffet fare. I was impressed when the chef came over to the next table and walked through the buffet with a fellow diner who had food allergies. He went over every dish and told her what to stay away from, he even offered to get her something special if she wanted. Very nice

My family really enjoys H&V. Buffets work great for us because when DS is hungry he wants to eat! NOW! And he loves the 'kid food' part of the buffet. We have always found it to have lots of great choices in salads, sides and main courses. And the dessert bar is over the top! We've eaten there 3 times and enjoyed every visit. I will definitly go again.

Thanks! Yeah, I had an idea about that whole package thing, and that is what I meant, I just didn't word it very well :teeth:

Thanks for the great reviews everyone!

We make it a habit to try everything, but H & V will NOT be making our repeat list. Reasons: crowded, tables just inches away from each other; slow and laxidazical wait staff--took way too long to just refill our beverages and that's basically all they have to do; ok buffet--nothing really impressed any of us (DH, DS-18, DD-15 and me); cost--we aren't cheap but didn't feel the food quality was anywhere near worth the price--for that $$ I want a quieter ambiance, an attentive wait staff and better food presentations. Mama Melrose's is our favorite right now for a Fantasmic meal. We also repeat with Sci Fi and will be trying The Brown Derby this summer. :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

We did the Fantasmic Dinner Package there on 11/8. The food was excellent. However, we had a 4:30 ADR and were never seated until after 5:30. We were a group of 8 and asked repeatedly if we were going to be seated only to be told we were next. The only way we got seated when I snagged a waitress and asked to be split into 2 tables of 4. We almost missed Fantasmic! They were extremely busy. However as I said the food was excellent. I would go back there, but if the same thing happens, I would request to be broken sooner.

Thanks for the awesome reviews. Now, I know this used to be a character meal. I think.
Does anyone know which characters used to be there on the off chance they may be coming back?

There haven't been characters there for years, and I wouldn't want to give you any hope that there will be again. However, to answer your question, I know Minnie was the main character, with (I think) Chip and Dale and Pluto, all dressed in Hollywood 30's glamour.

It was a character meal and we really loved it then. To us it seemed to go downhill when the characters left. It used to be Minnie, Chip, Dale, Pluto and Goofy. At least on the Easter morning that we were there.

Usually I would let this go... but "laxidazical"? I know I am a stickler for spelling anyway, and that's totally my hangup, not anyone elses... but "laxidazical"??? How am I supposed to let that go? :duck: I'm sorry, really I am. It's lackadaisical, believe it or not... come to think of it, both words look so darn funny. :rotfl: Sorry. Carry on.
