We have the Fantasmic Dinner pkg at H&V booked for our July visit....I realize the benefits of having the package (especially with kids)...but if not for the package, is this a fav restaurant that you would make plans to eat at? Anything special?! I'm evaluating our budget and was considering a counter service instead...We're already planning on Sci-Fi and 50's (our favorite)...

THANKS!

Haven't eaten there yet but the looks of the menu at allearsnet.com didn't do much for us. I'd be interested to see what people thought, too.

We liked H&V. I was not so sure but a friend took us and we are now hooked. Look at it this way. Sci-Fi is 13-17 for just an entree, add a drink for 2.00 and maybe a dessert for 5.00 and your at 20-24. H&V 22.99 for all you can eat and a variety of foods. Last year we ate more peal and eat shrimp than you can think of.

We have eaten there several times and alwys thought the food was good. It is served buffet style and they have a kids bar and a great dessert bar. It was better when it was a character meal but what can you do. I don't know the cost but it's not cheap. I guess it depends on your budget like you said but the food is not bad.

My family & I did the Fantasmic Dinner Package at H&V early this month. I would not chose to eat at H&V in the future. I may be a little biased to buffet's, I never fill like I get my moneys worth. The kid's end up eating chicken nuggets & ice cream, and I get full after the first plate. As far as the seats for Fantasmic, they still require you to arrive 30 minutes early for a guaranteed seat, then you sit to the far right of the stage.

DH and I ate there for dinner last September (It was not a character meal).
I really enjoyed it.
We did not plan to eat there, we just sort of stopped in because we were hungry.
IMO, I thought this was the best buffet we ate at while at WDW. We did not plan to go there for the fantasmic package, we actually forgot about it until the waiter mentioned it to us, so for us it was just an added bonus.

Although it is pricer then a counter service meal, I would have no problem going there again if DH wanted too. Now If I had to take a whole family including children, I may ponder about spending the money for the buffet. But for what its worth, we ate at a counter service at MGM a few days later and it was not good at all! (although it could have just been what I ordered)

We ate there to do the Fantasmic package. Thought it was okay - the food is nothing special but there is plenty of it and you get drinks and coffee. Also we thought it was worth it to get the seats for Fantasmic. Yes, you are to the right of the stage but the view is still really good and there is no hassle. We may try Mama Melrose next time. ::MickeyMo

Hollywood and Vine is one of our faves... Of cours ethey have the roast Beast ( as my kids call it) and maybe ham or Turkey breast? Truthfully we prefer it to Chef Mickeys and the like as it has Alot of very good veggie selections. We eat no red meat so for us we love it.

The faves for us are a spicey noodle dish, a tomato salad with balsamic. A carrot dish maybe orange glazed? and a spicey green bean dish. and roasted potatoes.. we are booking it again for October.

I thought it was somewhere between okay and good. there was nothing wrong with it, the food was alright tasting, but nothing on the buffet just knocked my socks off. Previous posts have raved about the desserts - they were plentiful, but again in my opinion just okay. The one thing I did find very good was the shrimp cocktail.

Maybe my expectations were too high (we had eaten at Boma the previous night). It was definitely a couple notches about your typical Sizzler/Golden Corral/Ponderosa. I don't believe we will return unless we choose to do the Fantasmic package again.

DH and I gave H&V a try for the first time last month, and we were pleasantly surprised. We're not really buffet people, but I have to admit that I really liked the food. Really good selection, flavors and quality. It was much better than the food I've had at the Sci-Fi and Primetime! We will definitely go back...

Can you eat dinner here without the Fantasmic package?

Ang

Yes.

We used to enjoy H&V when they served breakfast but we were not impressed whatsoever with the buffet dinner. We will not be visiting this dinner buffet again...the food wasn't worth it to us.

We too were not impressed with H&V. Although I can't really say that anything was wrong with it, it just didn't impress me. The food was alright, but nothing to really make we want to go back. The desserts were better than the food. The kids liked all the different sunday toppings and thought the mini pies and tarts were cool. With all the other good food choices at MGM, I wouldn't go back to H&V. Hope this helps! :sunny:

We ate at the H&V recently and give it just an OK. The choices were not too good for my almost 15 yr old DS. We do not plan on returning. We thought it was much better a couple of years ago.
