Will be calling soon to book my Fantasmic package and can't decide between these 2 restaurants. Will be traveling with DH and DD4. I know Brown Derby is somewhat pricey, but we have budgeted for this so that is not a problem.
Any thoughts?

brown derby, definitely. we thought the food at h+v was bad - even for a buffet.

We have eaten at Brown Derby for lunch and were quite pleased with the quality and service. We ate at H&V this past Thursday for the first time for the Fantasmic Package and really were surprised by the high quality of the food. There were many choices, everything was hot (that was supposed to be hot), and the meat selections were very good. My daughters of course loved the make your own sundae too. We would do H&V again for the dinner package.

Brown Derby, H&V was very poor quality food and service the last time we ate there.

I don't think that the Brown Derby is an option for the Fantasmic Dinner Package so you will have to go with H & V. We have little kids and that restaurant works great for us, but if the Brown Derby was available for the FDP, we would love to try it.

I made reservations for the Brown Derby package (they do have it) because it is a surprise for my daughter's 21st birthday dinner. She's a Theatre Arts major in college so what could be better! I have never tried it and try to do different things when I go. I loved Hollywood and Vine also! There is a huge assortment of food and it was good, I thought. For a young child that would be my choice!
20 more days!!!! :Pinkbounc

We chose Hollywood & Vine for the FDP because we're all pretty picky eaters and the menu at Brown Derby didn't look like it would appeal to all of us. We were very pleased with H&V. The quality and variety of food was excellent. Even with a family full of picky eaters, we were all able to find plenty that we enjoyed.

Ive never eaten at the Brown Derby...but we did NOT care for H&V at all

Oh sorry! I was thinking of the 50's Prime Time restaurant. We always wanted to get that one for the FDP. Ignore my previous post :sad2:

Have had 2 great meals at Brown Derby (once on NYE!). Fantastic service, food was wonderful, rack of lamb and creme brulee for dessert, cobb salad for lunch once. great atmosphere!

Unless you have small kids, Brown Derby for sure. Absolutely. We loved the food there. DS and I ate at H&V with the FDP 3 weeks ago. He liked it - the food's quality was compatible to a 4-year-old's taste. :teeth: Me? Not so much, but I would take my kids there again because we loved the FDP package overall!

Anyone know where I can get a menu for the Brown Derby? I'm getting more excited by the day! (especially with a foot of snow coming to NY!)

Thought the Brown Derby was pricy when we ate there in October but was absolutely worth it. We are repeating the experience in July.

Ate at H&V a couple of years ago and we agreed we wouldn't bother again.

Brown Derby was one of the best dinning experiences that my family had last month! If you love lamb chops, you gotta have these! They were so good we sucked the bones to get every last bit! ;)

We did the Fantasmic package at H & V Thanksgiving week of 2004 and were VERY pleased. Our boys eat well at buffets at home. We were pleased with H & V and plan on buying the package there again when we return in Nov '05!!

My vote is for The Brown Derby as well. If you dine there, order the crab cakes! These are absolutely wonderful :Pinkbounc

We have done both for the dinner package (H&V twice and the Brown Derby Once). My pick is Brown Derby hands down. All of us - including DD loved our meals. We had excellent service with wonderful food.

We have had 2 different experience at H&V - The first time the buffet was so/so and the service horrible. The second time - which I booked because my sister and niece wanted to eat there - the food was pretty good but our service was so-so.

Theonly reason for H&V is if you have a person (child or not) that can not sit through a meal at a restaurant. The buffet is instant food.

We ate at H&V and it was ok, but not great. We won't rush back. Also, this place was VERY LOUD. I would select the Brown Derby.
