Of course we have to take a tour of Hollywood, etc., when we are in S. Cal. Which company do you all recommend. Thanks.

I just got back from my trip about 2 weeks ago. I had found a company called HollywoodTours online and it looked like the most fun at the time. I sure am glad we did not pay in advance because we couldnt find them in the location described on the website when we got to LA! We called the 800# and the girl on the line could only sell us tix and not tell us where to find the actual office for tour departures.

Just before leaving for our trip, I had read about the Dearly Departed Tours. Unfortunately, we waited too late and they were all booked up for the day we wanted to take it. It really did sound fantastic with great reviews.
Check them out at: http://www.dearlydepartedtours.com/DDT/index.html

So we ended up getting on a Starline Motorcoach Tour. The price is advertised in the pamplet for $39.99 (2 hours), but we actually paid in their office around the corner from Grauman's. In doing that, we got friendly with the very bored employee there and he knocked off $10 each. We had a great guide and it was a lot of fun.

Another tour I can recommend is the Warner Bros VIP tour ($45each) in Burbank. I booked this in advance and we really enjoyed it. My only regret was that most shows are not back to filming yet. The only shows active on the set were Pushing Daisies and Chuck. The tour was fun and interesting and I'd do it again. You can book this on the Warner Bros website here: http://www2.warnerbros.com/vipstudiotour/

One more note about the Starline Tours: we opted for the air conditioned motor coach due to the hot sun. However, once we were on the tour, we wished we had done one of the open-air vehicles. A lot of the streets are heavily tree-lined, shading some of the ride. Also, on the motorcoach, even though the windows are large, it was still sometimes hard to see things being pointed out to us. We didn't take any pictures due to being inside either. Not that I would have been able to remember which one was David Beckham's driveway versus Sylverster Stallone's. LOL

I agree with this. We just got back, and did the Starline tour as well. We had a great guide, and the tour was very interesting, but we were very disappointed in the motor coach because we couldn't see everything pointed out on the other side of the vehicle. We were also unfortunately grouped with some tourists who decided to pass on showers and deoderant :( An open-air vehicle would have made the trip MUCH more pleasant! ;)

I agree with the OPs regarding the starline tours...make sure you request an open air vehicle or they will put in in the closed bus. You will be able to see and take pictures better and when the vehicle stops you can stand up. If you book online you will get a better rate.
