Hollywood Studios or Universal for a day?

We will be at Bonnet Creek for 2 weeks in July. We are taking the little one who is almost 4 to MK for 2 days or 1 at MK and 1 at AK.

We are planning to spend a day with the 13 year old. My mother and aunt will watch the little one for the day so we are trying to decide where we want to go. Either Hollywood Studios or Universal. It would be cheaper going to HS because we could add an extra day to our WDW tickets.

Which park has more things to do? We've been to Universal before, but it's been 5 or 6 years ago. The 13 year old isn't into big roller coasters, but he does like the simulator type of rides.

Which park should we go to? Opinions needed.

Islands of adventure ,but not necessarily Universal , has more thrill rides, Hollywood studios is a relatively small park--but is disney. it is a tough call, they both have a good coaster--Either one he'll have a good time. My 13 yr old says so...

Does he prefer Star Wars or Harry Potter?

Star Tours is an awesome simulator, and the stunt shows at HS are really great, but the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Islands of Adventure is also fabulous.

Both IOA and Universal Studios offer rides he will like. Spiderman at IOA and Transformers opening June 20 at the Studios are definitely must rides for a 13 year old. The Springfield expansion should be completely finished by then...not sure if he's a Simpsons fan or not. But there is also Revenge of the Mummy, Hollywood Rip, Ride Rockit and MIB. Check out the website and look at the different attractions and decide based on which park seems more appealing. Either Universal park will be a full day of great experiences.

You are correct...Universal will be more expensive since there are no discounts on single day admissions. Since you can add an additional day to your Disney tickets, that will save some money.

Tough choices.
