Planning a semi self tour day during our Disneyland trip, few questions...
Kids want to see Hollywood sign, where is a good spot? I was there roughly five years ago and we took a tour and they took us to a great spot on some side road and had great pictures.

Thinking than drive and stop to see Hollywood blvd, for the stars and Chinese theatre

Warner brothers tour.Kids range from 16, 13,9 and thought could be fun.

Thanks for any suggestions and if it helps anything we’re staying in the Newport Beach area

There is a huge shopping center, Hollywood and Highland, that you can walk to Chinese Theater, El Cap, stars, etc from right across the street. There is also views of the Hollywood sign from the center, they have kind of an observation bridge. You do have to pay for parking, but it's convenient and there are fun stores, places to eat, etc.
It wouldn't be as close as you could get if you drove up to the park, but it's easy to get to.
We always like to drive Mulholland and see if any stars are out walking their dogs or have left their gates open. ;)

We stayed at the Loews Hollywood Hotel and you can see the HOLLYWOOD sign from the walkway/observation bridge that connects to the Hollywood & Highland mall.
We also did a Hollywood tour and went up on Mulholland and you could see the sign a bit closer.
Our favorite viewing spot was from Griffith Observatory.

Just about any shop at H&H will validate for you -- just pop in to ask. There is a Starbucks, which is usually the most convenient spot since we end up there before going back to the car anyway.
