Hi. I have a reservation for the Fantasmic Dinner Package at Hollywood and Vine in April. I have been hearing really bad reviews on food and was wondering if I should try and change these plans. I do not feel the fantasmic package is really necessary and if the experience is bad then I should probably change.

Also, does anyone know what characters are usually around at dinner time. Simply says Minnie and Friends.

Thanks for your thoughts.
Joe

Characters: Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Daisy, Goofy

We like H&V, we go every trip. We have never had a bad time there, food has always been good, hot things hot, cold things cold, good taste and filling. True, it's not gourmet, but we have always found it good. We have always had good service(our waiter last June, was awesome!)and great character interaction.

I would say the food was OK. I didn't have any major complaints but it's not something I look forward to foodwise. F! package is amazing and the character interaction there was the best we had all trip. I have a review in my dining review link in my sig if you are interested. It's nothing like the terrible reviews but it's nothing to write home about either. I left fed and satisfied and enjoyed the experience.

Keep in mind that more people are inclined to write about a negative experience, than a good one. We like H&V. It's not gourmet, but it's good. I think a lot depends on your expectations. The only horrible experience we've ever had was at Coral Reef...but I see others who love it! No matter, enjoy!

We've been 4 times and have reservations for April.

We've had one bad experience. It was one of the first few weeks they offered the Minnie Seasons dinner. We had a late lunch reservation - last of the day. When we arrived they didn't have our table ready. We were a party of 6 with a high chair and wheelchair. They didn't have a space that could easily accommodate us. I noted the handicapped accessible table on my reservation. When we were sat the hostess told us that we had limited time because lunch would be ending and everyone had to be out for the turn over to Minnie. Our server came to our table and said not to go up to the buffet because the manager was sending all the Disney Junior characters to our section now. The characters basically all came together which was kind of cool to get pictures with Doc and Handy Manny together. Once that was over we made our way to the buffet. One whole side was closed off and the dessert station was completely blocked. The side that was open wasn't fresh. My mom waited at the table with the little one. When I got back she said the manager came over and told her that we needed to wrap up. We hadn't even had one bite yet!!! I couldn't believe it! I went to speak with the manager. He advised there were issues with the reservation system and it allowed lunch reservations to be too close to dinner. He comped our meal and allowed us to continue eating while they did the turn over. There were 3 or 4 other tables in the same boat. I assume he did the same for them as well.

This was our favorite buffet last trip, Nov 16. We loved the food and the tiny desserts were tons of fun. The characters were all amazing and had the best interaction of the whole trip. It was crazy in there, but that was part of the fun since we contributed to the crazy;)

We really enjoyed H&V for the holiday dine with the F! package. We have booked it again for the next trip. We booked the first reservation slot for dinner time, around 3:35pm, so we were one of the first groups at the buffet line, maybe that helped?

Agreed. We've tried to book the first available dinner slot.

I went before it was Minnie's Seasonal Dine. Worst meal of our trip. Only restaurant in all of WDW I will never return to. Rude waitress. Surrounded by dirty, unbussed tables. Dirty buffet. Hot food was not hot, cold food was not cold. Ladies Room was filthy
Never again.

The food is fine. It's edible, but nothing memorable. But the character interaction at dinner more than makes up for it.

We felt the food was ok, characters were good though we had to speak up because one skipped us and we were treated like we were lying just to get a second visit. Bathroom was disgusting, service was rushed, very crowded.

The most annoying thing for us was the card they give to meet Goofy "whenever you want". Twice we were told to go do it now, so we would stop eating and head up there. By then there would be a few families and we'd be told to go back and wait. The third time she tried to make me and my daughter go alone, I said we can go when my husband gets back from the buffet, we'd like a family photo, she huffed and said forget it. The fourth time the woman came to tell us to go, I said we will be visiting Goofy on our way out. She wasn't happy about it, I got dirty looks the rest of the time but she never came back.

We also did a Disney Jr lunch at H&V, which we were kinda dreading after that dinner, but everything was great for that.

what kind of food do they have, I read the menu and it didn't seem like very much..... do they have pizza, chicken nuggets, french fries, or salmon?

Food was nothing to write home about but it wasnt bad. The Character interaction was good. I personally prefer character dining at crystal palace in MK or if looking for the fantasmic dining package (which is a great deal as that show is always packed) I prefer Mama Melrose located over by the Muppet show. the fantasmic package includes both an appetizer and a desert. Its not a buffet but believe me more than enough food. but again imho
