Hollywood and Vine Play and Dine Character Breakfast--Long review with lots of photos

Thanks! I may change from 50s to this! Although I am afraid that my dd9 will be bored but oh well, we are doing her meal at the end of the trip at Norway Princess Breakfast! I think that my dd5 will enjoy this. I am afraid of how she is going to react to the characters though is my only concern. We are doing CP on our first day to try and introduce her to the big characters! Oh well, that is another thread! Thanks for the review!:)

My DD10 was with us. While she wasn't thrilled she enjoyed how much fun her sister had and she did sing a little and pose for photos. She got her meal at LTT at the end of the week so she knew that it was fair. I think your DD5 would love this, if she is okay with the characters. They are REALLY big!

Good luck and have fun!

We had breakfast at the Preschoolers Character Meal at H&V on Sunday, September 24th during Free Dining. This was a surprise for DD6. She loves the Little Einsteins and JoJo and Goliath so I knew she would love this! The reports of the singing and dancing time during the meal would also appeal to her. DD10 was not thrilled to have to go to a little kids meal but since I also had a surprise meal for her she put up with it!

We arrived a bit early for our 10:05am ADR and were seated quickly--less than a 10 min. wait. The restaurant was uncrowded--the only place we ate the entire week that had any empty tables, this made it very pleasant.

Our waitress was very nice. She said that it had been a hectic morning, starting with an overnight power outage that had caused many servers, including her, to not get up in time and get to work late. While she was obviously feeling a bit stressed she was very nice, efficient and had a great sense of humor. She encouraged us to stay for as long as we wanted. As we were getting ready to leave she even joked with us to stay so she wouldn't have to turn over the table!

The tables--nothing fancy but that was okay with us!

(I am having lots of problems with the disboards site today so I am going to do this in pieces so I don't have to retype if I am unable to submit.)

Oh dear! My 4 yo would really enjoy this, and especially after I read your reveiw and saw your pics, I am so on the fence about adding this. We are already doing CP (again:)) but I am considering paying OOP for this... Decisions, decisions...

Thanks for the review and the pictures. This is one must-do character meal for our next trip...both the kids will love it. Now I just need to decide between breakfast and lunch...decisions...decisions.... ;)

Wow-thanks so much for your review! As of today, I am planning a birthday trip for DS who will be 2...looks as though this will be a must on our list.

Thanks so much for the review. I had no idea this character meal existed and both my kids are Disney Playhouse nuts! As soon as I am done typing I will be calling for ADR! :yay:

We did this back in October. I tagged along w/ Dsister, DBIL and their 3 kids. We had probably one of the last breakfast seatings. There were *maybe* 2-3 other families in the whole place so the characters came over again and again. I had figured the buffet would look picked over by that time, but everything was fresh and well stocked. If you're tring to decide btwn breakfast and lunch, try this option.

Great pics and thanks for the review. Add another item to the "must-do" list for my Little Einstien lover!

Of course the characters were JoJo and Goliath, and June and Leo. DD had been watching Little Einsteins in the room while we were getting ready to go so she thought this was just great! There was LOTS of time with them because the restaurant wasn't busy. They signed our aprons (we didn't have books--but aprons to be signed). Goliath can't sign, but JoJo put a paw print on the apron for him. The characters circulated around so much that they really were mostly walking by and waving because they knew they had already been to most of the tables several times. They would stop for hugs if needed!

Thank you for the fantastic review. This is definitely going to be a must on our trip. DD4 and DD2 are watching Little Einsteins at the moment which is soon to be followed by Jo Jo's Circus. This would definitely be there favourite.

Since this was already bumped. I went to the H&V Character lunch in November with DD2 because of this post.

I had read a ton of bad stuff about H&V, so I was scared.

Had I gotten a better reservation, I think it would have been magical. Unfortunately, we were an hour later than we needed, and DD2 was hungry and tired. It took her awhile to get used to it, even though the day before she had done well at CP. It was also her second day at WDW, and that can be a lot for a kid.

The food was good, though I think CP was better. The character interaction was AWESOME. Once DD2 ate she was dancing like crazy. Goliath was on his break while we were there, and came out when we were leaving, so we had to stay for another 15 monutes. Then she was pooped. She slept for two hours, even through voyage of little mermaid.

glad to see pictures of the buffet - never went there before, but now that i've seen how good it looks, we'll consider eating here now!
