We had breakfast at the Preschoolers Character Meal at H&V on Sunday, September 24th during Free Dining. This was a surprise for DD6. She loves the Little Einsteins and JoJo and Goliath so I knew she would love this! The reports of the singing and dancing time during the meal would also appeal to her. DD10 was not thrilled to have to go to a little kids meal but since I also had a surprise meal for her she put up with it!

We arrived a bit early for our 10:05am ADR and were seated quickly--less than a 10 min. wait. The restaurant was uncrowded--the only place we ate the entire week that had any empty tables, this made it very pleasant.

Our waitress was very nice. She said that it had been a hectic morning, starting with an overnight power outage that had caused many servers, including her, to not get up in time and get to work late. While she was obviously feeling a bit stressed she was very nice, efficient and had a great sense of humor. She encouraged us to stay for as long as we wanted. As we were getting ready to leave she even joked with us to stay so she wouldn't have to turn over the table!

The tables--nothing fancy but that was okay with us!

(I am having lots of problems with the disboards site today so I am going to do this in pieces so I don't have to retype if I am unable to submit.)

I took pictures of all the buffet food since I hadn't seen any photo reviews here before I left.

The line started with an assortment of bread and bagles and pastries and muffins:

There was apple butter, butter and jelly available.

:confused3 My images must be too big because I couldn't get them to both show up on one post??? :confused3

Anyway, moving on the fruit (pineapple, melon, bananas), hardboiled eggs and yogurt:

I believe this is eggs, sausage links, biscuits and gravy:

This is corned beef hash, I think bacon and then potato casserole (the photos didn't turn out as well as I had hoped!):

Okay, my photos of some of the other hot items just didn't come out. The glare from the heat lamps makes them unusable. But there was also oatmeal and toppings of brown sugar and granola and raisins, cheese grits, fritatta, eggs (the standard buffet type), biscuits and sausage gravy

AND:

MICKEY WAFFLES!!! with strawberry and blueberry and apple topping. Warm Syrup was also available.

On the other side of the main food area was also a cold cereal offering:

And dessert of Apple Crisp and Warm Bread Pudding and Vanilla Sauce:

DD6's favorite thing about the Disney buffets is the Kids Area so she can server herself--she loves that feeling of independence.

Scrambled Eggs, Mickey Waffles (kid sized), and strawberry and blueberry sauce.

And on the other side, bacon, sausage links and tater tot type hash browns:

Great pictures, everything looks yummy. Thanks for posting (despite the difficulties!). :teeth:

Of course the characters were JoJo and Goliath, and June and Leo. DD had been watching Little Einsteins in the room while we were getting ready to go so she thought this was just great! There was LOTS of time with them because the restaurant wasn't busy. They signed our aprons (we didn't have books--but aprons to be signed). Goliath can't sign, but JoJo put a paw print on the apron for him. The characters circulated around so much that they really were mostly walking by and waving because they knew they had already been to most of the tables several times. They would stop for hugs if needed!

And sometimes to dance:

Every 15 mintues or so they would have the live entertainment. A man and woman would come out (one on each side of the restaurant) and encourage the kids to get up and dance and sing along to familiar Playhouse Disney songs. Sometimes the characters joined in and sometimes they didn't.

We really enjoyed this meal (even DD10 got up and danced and got photos with the characters!) We thought the food was good. It was hot and fresh and there was a good variety. We are not huge breakfast eaters--this was the only TS breakfast we did the entire trip. As long as there is bacon and Mickey Waffles my kids and I are happy!

DD6 loves Playhouse Disney and loves these characters so she was really thrilled. If you have a little one that wants to see these guys it is a great opportunity.

I would definitely go back EXCEPT. . . I think that youngest DD will have outgrown Playhouse Disney by the time we go back to WDW again :sad1:

I hope this review helps other that are trying to decide if this is worth going to. Ask any questions you have.

Enjoyed reading your review ~ Thanx for sharing.

Lovely piccies :goodvibes

Thanks for the great reviews and pictures. We are thinking of doing this Breakfast or lunch in January.

Great reviews, I was wondering, what was the surprise meal you had planed for your older child?

LTT! She is a NUT for anything colonial and I knew she would love the characters dressed in colonial outfits, and the colonial look of it. She did! I will do a review of it later when I have time--sneak preview-- it was the BEST meal we had all week!

Thanks! I have a 2 yo DD who LOVES JoJo. I might call tomorrow and book this for my trip next month.

She also loves Mickey and Cinderella, but I think she would really like the interaction with the characters. Here she might have a little more time to get used to them. I know she is going to be scares at first, or at least shy.
