Hi,
I now know that the 3 rides that used to be on this tour won't happen, so it seems it's just a lot of walking around.
Knowing that no one yet has gone on this tour, without the rides is it good for a 6 year old, or will they be bored to tears?

It looks like the only perk that my son might enjoy would be the VIP seating for the parade.

Hopefully once someone goes on this years version, they can fill us in.

Personally, I would not take a 6 year old on the tour if it didn't include the rides. I've taken my kids on it twice, but I think it'll be too much talking and too much walking without anything to break it up. The parade seating is nice, but for me it isn't worth it alone. That said, hopefully people are back to post updates of the tour next weekend and can give you a better idea of what it entails.

If you are wanting to do a tour, I highly recommend Discover the Magic with a kid that age. Mine loved it!

what is the Discover the Magic Tour? i dont see it on Disney's site, i only see the Holiday Tour and Walk in Walt's footsteps tour. Currently I'm booked on the Holiday Tour, but found out that there will be no rides this year, so i'm thinking about canceling it.

I luckily have some time to get feedback, would book tour on dec25 if available, will be in Disneyland dec23 to dec25.

I don't see discover the magic either.

Discover the Magic Tour has gone to Yesterland.... The Holiday Tour no longer includes rides :(

The parade seating with a cookie and hot chocolate is nice.

I *think* the tours are non-cancelable. I would be careful booking if you aren't firm on going.

you are correct, but I spoke to a CM Lead and expressed my disappointment on no rides on the holiday tour, she said she would give me a full refund if I want, I still have my reservation, just waiting to see what I want to do.

I have a 6 yo and have booked the tour because the cm i booked it with basically lied and told me the rides were part of the tour. Now i am stuck and ticked off. I would cancel if i could ..we go Nov18

Have you tried calling back to explain the situation, and maybe speaking to a supervisor? I've heard others have had success cancelling the Holiday Tour this year because the CM's were not initially forthcoming with (or aware of) the information about rides being cut. If you tell them the rides were a big reason you booked the tour, you might get a refund.

I took my 11yr old son last year, along with my daughter and mom. Even with the rides it became a little too much for him. Lots of walking and talking. Parade seating was great, really enjoyed the cocoa and cookie, but without the rides it becomes even more "adult" geared. My mom and I loved it!

Definitely call back and talk to them again. I think they owe you a refund if they changed it and didn't make that clear. And I think others in the same situation have gotten refunds.

I'm traveling solo and am thinking of doing this tour. Just a quick two days for the last bit of Christmas (after New Years)-would love to get other opinions as well

I wouldn't recommend this tour for a 6-year old unless he/she were really into Disney trivia. I say that after meeting a 7 and 5 year old who spent our visit at Disneyland telling me all kinds of trivia, so THEY would probably enjoy the tour, but the average 6 year old would be bored, in my opinion, especially since they are not offering rides this year (really a shame).

I went on the tour 3 years ago and another group brought a 6 year old girl. Even with the 3 rides she was very clearly bored to tears.

Then they should not have started to sell the tour until the details were set and the CMs informed, don't you think?
Sure, but even if it is "set", many of the older CMs see this as the same tour they sold last year, and will assume it is like that. Add to it the tour went on sale 30 days out (Oct 11/12), and I know changes were still being made Oct 17th.

Dang! I didn't know it had gone away. I'm sorry I suggested it then!

I loved it last year(with the rides) as did my mom. To me the rides were great because we were there opening day of the holidays, run weekend and first day of season of the force. As an adult though, even without the rides I would have really enjoyed it. I learned a lot of cool info/trivia and thought it was well worth the $$. There were a few treats I wasn't expecting, and parade seating was great.

I booked i on the 19th. This is just frustrating. It is a big trip for us that we will probably not do again. My 6 yo is a huge jack skellington fan. He is very dissapointed and I don't know how he will do walking and listening for 2 hours. I sent a mail to disney so I guess I will wait to hear from them.

We did the tour last year with my 4 yr old and he loved the music in the headset and loved the rides shame they aren't included anymore and of course then he got a cookie and got chocolate to watch the parade he was very happy plus candy at the candy stop

He was no fuss at all in his stroller
