Happy Holidays everyone! We are planning for a trip in late December 2018 or Early January 2019. When do the lights and decorations in the parks and hotels get taken down. We would like to travel around Jan 1-4 when the prices go down a little but do not want to miss the beauty of the holiday season. We have never been to Disney World around the holidays and are excited to see everything. Thank you for your help!

The MK Castle Frozen Ice Lights will still be lit Jan 1-4.
Some of the other MK decorations will remain.
The Christmas Trees at the other parks should still be up.

Resorts may lose decorations in early January.

things will still be up but all the holiday stuff will be over. like no more fireworks, no more parade, the new tower of terror projections will stop if they do them again next year, and Anna and Elsa won't light the castle they will just be on.

Follow up question. Does anyone know what the chances are that the monorail hotels will still be decorated on the 7th?

We left on the 6th last year from Wilderness Lodge. Wilderness Lodge decorations came down before we left. The Grand Floridian gingerbread house was down before the 4th. I doubt much will still be up on the 7th.

Thanks. I wasn’t holding my breath. If there’s anything still up, I guess it will just be a nice surprise.

About the only things left on the 7th historically will be the Castle Dreamlights and the Character Trees at Disney Springs.

Also some of the Park Christmas Trees "may" still be up as well as the "Garland Around The World" in World Showcase.:)

We left WL on January 5th one year and the decorations had been all removed at WL and from the DVC side. We thought we'd be safe for decorations through the weekend after the 1st, however, we were wrong.

Thank you for the previous information!!! I thought I would bump this post as this is the time frame that we would be there next year. I'm curious if anyone there could comment on whether the decorations are still up at the parks and resorts!:)

Report from 1/2

So the Sunset seasons in the stuff on ToT right? They were doing it on 1/1. I was surprised to see it running as we left last night. Thought 12/31 was it's last night

My guess is that they will keep the castle lights on until the marathon, since that's a big deal. They may do the same with the TOT stuff.

That's the main element.

Yup, it ends on the 6th.

Nope, a lot is still going on.

If the official announcement I posted is correct, Jan 6th will be the last day for "Sunset Seasons Greetings" which includes the projections on the ToT. The Marathon is on the 7th.

Boardwalk removes the gingerbread house display last night, but the tree is still up.

I wasn't even sure they had one this year. Where was it? We spent the night of the 31st there and never saw it, at least not if it was the same display and where it was in the past. Which was right inside the lobby door. Or was it the and I totally missed it? The one I am used to seeing was so big I don't think I could have missed it

Funny thing is when they first announced it they showed it ending on 12/31
We even moved our flight up and booked additional days to come in early just so we could see it. The website, which is frequently wrong I know, still shows through 12/31.

That little error/change was a costly one for us in the end. We didn't need to come early after all. Oh well, extra days aren't a bad thing but it will mean one less trip this year since the days we added on were full price, no discount days.
