I'm looking at these two as my 1st night before checking in to AKL. I like the Holiday Inn as a kids suite and the kids eat free and will like the romm much more but I do like the Quality Inn Suites because of its free morning breakfast for everyone (I know it's continental) and I also like the free adult and kid beverages pool side. I think, cost wise I break even or better by staying at Quality Inn Suites.

Which would you rather have?
How does the quality of each rate?
Is one better than the other for some reason?
Is the location any better at one? (want to get to AKL early if possible)
Anything I don't know about these places that I should?

Thanks for any thoughts, YO

Hi
Sorry I have never stayed at Sunspree but we did stay at Quality Suites Maingate East a couple of years ago. We had a two bedroom/2 bathroom and were really happy with it. The courtyard has the pool and kids pool which suited us fine. They also have free drinks daily between a certian time and we liked the breakfast.
Note though, the shuttle they had to the parks back then was shared with Days Inn Suites next door.
Old town is only a few minutes walk and and there are loads of resturants in the area plus a 7-11 right in front of the hotel... which is also a god way to find it as it is off a bit from the main road!
We were happy with it and were booked to stay there this May but we got a deal at HIFS which works better for us as they have a zero entry ppol and my daughter is in a wheelchair!
Have a great rip!

Hi there, I stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree in 1991 for my honeymoon. The first room they gave us was a handicapped room in a breezeway, and I was a little disappointed because it seemed a little dark and isolated... kinda sad since it was my honeymoon. As luck would have it, a pipe broke above our bathroom so they moved us to a pool view room...much nicer! I'm sure some things have changed there since, but when we were there, the shuttle system was great... no other hotel stops. Only was full once after a downpour but another came along soon. They mailed us a schedule ahead of time, which was helpful. Nice having a fridge and a microwave to save a bit.

I have three kids and I think they would really like the Sunspree. We are going in June (our first trip since '91!) and I thought about staying there again, but I want to see what other places are like so we are staying at the Hotel Royal Plaza and the Gaylord. I think I got that backwards, eh? Kid-friendly hotel on honeymoon, and a little fancier hotels with 3 kids? What am I thinking?? ;)

Have a great time... good luck!

Quality Inn and Quality Suites Maingate East are two diffrent hotels...just wondering which you were looking into....

My son and I have stayed at the Sunspree twice and we enjoyed it both times. The first time they even upgraded my room to a themed kid suite, because my room wasn't ready at check in. My son was estatic with his own little room. It included a bunk bed, a boom box, TV, and Nintendo. The pool is wonderful and they are so kid friendly. My son is a teenager now and wants to stay at more upscale places( my poor pocketbook), but I would gladly stay here again in the future.

Haven't been to Sunspree but stayed at QS about 2 yrs ago. It was nice. Breakfast was typical "free" hotel meal - perfectly adequate. Being right near Old Town is nice if you have time for that.

Since you are only staying one nite, I think you should base your decision strictly on dollars and cents. Figure out which will be cheaper overall, food included, and go with that one. That's what I'd do.

ccalip, what were you thinking

Hey, finally got my countdown clock going and just realized we'll be there shortly after you.... yippee!

Did you make a decision between the two hotels yet? I do agree with DisneySteve... since it's only one night, maybe just pick the least expensive one. So many other things to worry about! (like PHP and strollers and best-day-of-the-week to go and car rentals and car seats and parking and refrigerators and packing snacks and pressed pennies and family's energy level and coping with young kids fears and.... argh!) :yo-yo:

I was right along with your thinking disneysteve, $'s and cents are what it came down to as long as they both were nice, decent places to stay. :goodvibes I was going to stay at the Day suites next door but never got the good vibes about it as I did these 2 places. I ended up going with Quality becasue it is near Old Town if we want to check it out and also the free morning breakfast and of course the free :drinking1 pool side. I thought hard about the kids suite thing but thought I'd rather have one night that Dad picked becase I liked it for me and DW. Plus my moto is if it's free, it's for me.

I'm ready to do the :thewave: as I think I've got everything planned. All that's left is fine tuning things and like hoping to get an uprgade at AKL or PBR or getting a patio style room
off the pool area if they are good rooms. I'm still waiting to hear more about those types of rooms.

ccalip, I'll have my dis green on with 2 DD's 8 & 11. Say howdy if ya notice.

YO
