Another Holiday inn question. HI Sunspree is almost half the price as HI Family Suites... HIFS comes with breakfast, but that is not really worth the extra $$. Is Sunspree okay, or should I just go with Family Suites (which seems like such a safe bet) and be done with it. In the long run $40 more a night is nothing, our misc. daily expense budget is more than that anyway! Still I could go an extra day or two at the Sunspree rate.... has anyone seen both?

Let's put it this way, my former boss heard me rave about the Holiday Inn Family Suites so when they planned their trip this summer they booked the Sunspree because they couldn't reach me. They thought it was the same.

Well, needless to say I get a call on the night I return, she was so upset. The room and the hotel was a disappointment and she needed me to get her in contact with Dreams for a last minute change. Luckily they were able to move her to the Buena Vista Suites at the last minute.

I've never been to the Sunspree, but have never heard any great reviews. On the other hand, the HIFS is a unique experience and I highly recommend it.

i stayed at both sunspree(in 98) and hifs(a couple years ago) and there is no comparing the two. i loved how clean and big hifs was. if you are big breakfast eaters like we are, we saved a ton of $$$ eating a big breakfast before the parks and then getting a snack in the afternoon, instead of paying a lot for fast food. we loved having the extra room for mommy and daddy quiet time. oh, we also loved having 3 tvs---no fighting over the remote after a long day:D if you have the entertainment card, you can get a room for as low as $75-even on the weekend. you can also save$$$with the free shuttle going to all 4 parks!! sunspree back in 98 was kind of dirty(room was very musty and needed to be vaccuumed)and we had a room with a kids suite.....there was a dirty diaper left under the bunk bed:eek: maybe they renovated? i hope so, otherwise for sure go with hifs-we are going back in jan before our cruise!!good luck and let us know what you pick::MickeyMo

We won't go back to the Sunspree, we were unimpressed with the KidSuites and the room just felt dirty, it was musty smelling. The "food court" was repulsive to us. We looked at the breakfast the first day and never went back. The pool is large and our DSs really enjoyed that part. All in all it wasn't a "ruined vacation" kinda bad but it was a "never again" kinda bad. I have heard nothing but good things about HIFS. The two times since that trip we stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Village, very nice! We really enjoy staying in that area with all the restaurants so close.

I prefer the Family Fun Suites over Sunspree. I would not stay at Sunspree again, for any reason. It is one of my least favorite hotels I have ever been in. I agree that the food was gross, although we ate there twice because we were too tired to go anywhere else. The nightly entertainment for the kids is not as nice as the HIFS. The rooms are much smaller, the parents room does not have a separate door, just a wall. It is in need of renovation.
The HIFS is also showing a little wear and tear. Check out your room before you unload all of your luggage, making sure it is clean especially the smaller bed in the kid's room. Our first room had a broken bed, our second room had a bed covered in sand(I don't know where it came from?). Luckily, we noticed it prior to bed time!
