Has anyone ever stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree Lake Buena Vista?? I paid for a nonrefundable stay there in April and then discovered a website called tripadvisors that had VERY mixed reviews.

It's myself, husband, 12 year old & 4 year old going and we want a fun, clean hotel that's within walking distance of DTD.

Is this what we paid for?? :confused3

It's very, very near DD, but I don't think I'd want to walk it (particularly with the amount of traffic in the area). At least in April it won't be extremely hot.

I stayed there several years ago, but it's been too long for my experience to help much. They had a great pool and a movie theater. When we went by there in November, it looked like it had been renovated.

Honestly, if I were you (since you're prepaid and you can't do anything about it anyway), I'd look for the best in the property and have a good time. There are some great restaurants nearby and a nice miniature golf course in the Crossroads (across 535 from DD).

If for some reason, you are unhappy with your room, just request another one.

BTW, are you a Priority Club member? They had perks for that when I was there. Also, you can let the points build up and use them for free stays later.

Have fun!

We stayed there for our first trip with the kids in 1997. I liked it OK and the rooms were neat and all. I have heard mixed reviews of it. I was given a parking lot view that when I entered the room it was filthy and smelled like an ashtray. After a complaint they cleaned that room and gave us a new room the next day. The service was OK but the food was good. I would NOT walk to DTD with kids. As another poster said I would focus on the good of the hotel and enjoy yourself. Hey you will be visiting the most magical place on earth! :sunny:

I just got back from staying at this hotel (Feb. 14-22). I too had read mixed reviews and was a little worried before we went, but I have to say I was very happy with our stay there. Our kids are 10 and 12. We had a kidsuite facing the pool on the second floor. The room was clean. The breakfast buffet was very good, the only other meal we had there was pizza and wings one night, which was also good. The staff was very friendly and the kids had fun in the arcade (never did have time to watch a movie). It's a short drive to DTD (we rented a car), but I don't think I'd want to walk there, especially with kids. There's a 7-11 right next door, a Wendy's across the street and a Walgreens just a short walk down the road.

I just got back from a stay as well. I would agree that I wouldn't walk to downtown disney. Very busy road. We stayed one night in a standard. It was bright clean...We then decided to try a kid suite thinking it would be set up like HIFS now Nick suites-WRONG! The kid suite was $20 more and was literally a partition in the middle of a standard room similar to an office cubicle. Also the lighting in that room was awful and it was dark in there. On the plus I agree great breakfast buffet with made to order omelets, eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, cereal fruit sausage...We didn't get a chance to enjoy movies but they run continually. The kids enjoyed the arcade and be sure to ask for kids welcome pack. It has a coupon for free arcade token and some other goodies. If you are a priority club memeber ask for your welcome pack it has a few $2 off coupons for buffet. I actually have an extra if you want it. All in all not a terrible place. Clean and safe.
