Hi!

We're taking our 4 children (ages 13, 4, 4, & 18 mos.) to WDW next month and I have reservations made for 9 nites at HIFS Kidsuite for $94/nite and also at Homewood Suites in Lake Buena Vista for $79/nite. Which would you choose? I think the "kids eat free" deal at HIFS sort of balances out the higher rate there, but isn't the Homewood closer to WDW? We will have a rental car, but I hate to pay the parking at the parks if the shuttle service is good.

Decisions, decisions! TIA!

Hi, Sue:

I would chose HIFS. The breakfast will MORE than balance out the price. Also the HIFS is a themed hotel which is incredible to the eyes of kids! It was made for them. Also, that's a pretty good rate for that property.

As for the distance, HIFS is about a 5 minute drive to the entrance to the parks. I would still suggest a car so you can have flexibility, though.

The Homewood suites in LBV is on palm parkway, which is a heavily trafficed area. The HIFS is just outside of this area, and probably one of the easiest hotels to get to DW from.

The Homewood Suites offers a free breakfast every morning for everyone in your party as well as free drinks and snacks from 5pm-7pm( Mon-Thurs).

HIFS has 3 TV's... you a 13 and 4 year olds might to watch very different programs when you're relaxing. Also at HIFS you could put the little kids in the kid suite bedroom, turn the hidabed area over to your teenager and still keep a private room for yourself. (that's assuming the Homewood Suites is 1 bdr and a living area.) On the other hand, I think H.Suites might have a better kitchen area, HIFS just has a microwave, sink and fridge, no stovetop, oven or dishes. It doesn't really have an eating area to fit your family. If you weren't planning on really cooking or eating in your room, I'd recommend HIFS.

If you're big on themeing for kids, then HIFS is good with the kidsuites- and the pool area is very nice. The kiddie pool would be nice with you toddler. If you're going for a more spacious feel, then I would choose Homewood suites. Although you each will have your own TV at HIFS.... I felt the place was extremely cramped. I'm not sure where you would put the crib for your 18 month old unless you put it in the kid suite. Once the hideabed is pulled out (for your teen) the "living room" is gone.
