Has anyone heard for sure that they are opening in October? I went online to their site and you can not make a reservation until December. Does anyone know how the construction is going and if it looks like it is progressing?

Well, I wonder when they are going to let the cat out of the bag. Last communication I had with them they were saying October 15th but I couldn't get the contact at the actual hotel to commit to that. We arrive 10/28. Oh well, we are hoping they will again transfer people to the sheraton safari, we're okay with that.

The box on the hiorlando.com home page has now been changed to "Come celebrate our reopening with us this winter."

I have just emailed them to ask if they can confirm my dates or if they can confirm their projected opening date. Will keep you posted.

I'm also very interested in knowing, since the week we'll be going in October is the time of the PGA tourney down there! I'm hearing that Disney's pretty booked up, so what if the Sheraton Safari books up too, and the HI-DTD puts off telling us until the last minute, and we have to stay at a crappy hotel? I know beggars can't be choosers, and I'm extremely happy with our 1.18 rate, but it would be nice to confirm something!

Did you notice that they are now calling themselves an "official Walt disney World" hotel? Will this mean we will have the same perks, like early hours, etc, that you would get while staying on site. I was just on their new site, hiorlando.com and that is where they have that info. That might be what is taking them so long. I understood the previous delay was because Disney was making all of these demands on their building codes, etc. Just wanting to hear what they are going to do in November. thanks

I sent an e-mail to the Holiday Inn mentioning the change on their website and asking if people with October reservations were going to be moved. I got an e-mail back stating that they just found out a few days ago that the opening would be delayed and that I would be contacted in the next two weeks regarding my options.

Exact letter I just got. Now we sit and wait I guess. And it's too late for me to get passholder rates on disney property so I'm a little perturbed

I just got the same e-mail also. Our reservations are for 11/2 and 11/6 (night before and night after our WONDER cruise.

So I guess we'll find out in the next 2 weeks where we'll be staying. Since it's only one night on either end, I don't mind if it's a hotel in the same general area.

We have stayed at both the HI on Hotel Plaza Blvd. and the Sheraton Safari. Althought the HI location is better because you can walk to DD, I much preferred the Sheraton Safari!

Interresting....i've never stayed at either hotel. Do you mind telling me why you liked the Sheraton better? If you used it, how was their shuttle service?

We stayed at the Sheraton Safari for one night prior to our stay at the Swan last fall. We arrived at 10:30 pm and were off to breakfast at IHOP by 7:30 so that we could get to the Swan and head over to the parks.

The lobby staff was very friendly, actually upgraded us to a Starwood Suite (I'm a SPG member) even though I pricelined the hotel ($40). The room was clean and comfortable. Sheraton's beds are the best. Our room overlooked the pool area which appeared to be very nice also.

If that's where we get moved to, I'm good with it, I wouldn't hesitate staying at this hotel again.

We will have a rental car for our park day, so we won't need to use the hotel transportation...Since we're only going to the parks the one day, We'll probably head right to the parks after the cruise and not get back to the hotel until that evening.

I got the letter from HI today offering me the Sheraton Safari for early October at the same rate. Anybody else get their letter?

Got my letter also. I was communicating with Monica thru email and she has put my reservation on a pending status since I am going to change dates and I am not sure about them right now. She has really been great about this whole thing.

I received both today...had to respond to them by 8/15, which offer I would be accepting. (move to Sheraton Safari or change my dates until 5/06-12/06). Since we need 1 night before and 1 night after our DCL cruise...I e-mailed back to move us over the Sheraton Safari....

I just received another e-mail stating that I would be hearing from Sheraton Safari within the next 7 days.

Holiday Inn customer service has been exceptional. They've taken a difficult situation and turned it into a winner for them. I will definately consider this hotel on my next visit to orlando!

Got our letter yesterday in the mail, also. We are staying the middle of October, so we opted to go to the Sheraton after all the great things that have been said about it on these boards.
