Well, thank God it's over, that's all I have 2 say!!!!!!
Christmas at my inlaws is pretty much the same every year (12 years now). We HAVE to go to MIL's on C. day. We open presents, eat dinner.....all in silence. Yep. No one talks. You can hear a pin drop. Long periods of awkward silence, with a question every now and then about how work is...pretty much things you might discuss with an aquaintance. VERY weird. When we dropped off my BIL yesterday, DH and I could finally talk. The first words out of his mouth were, "That was HORRIFYING." Gifts were always an issue, since you never knew if anyone liked what they got. We've been doing okay giving gift cards the last few years-less stress. Next year I will be working and want to go away for the holidays. DH feels bad about not going to his family's, but it really is unejoyable to say the least. He thinks we should continue to go. I would feel bad if my future daughter in law would not want to come over, but I am the type of person to have my own plans, anyway. It's also the same at Thanksgiving, Easter, birthdays, and any other gathering.
