Well, thank God it's over, that's all I have 2 say!!!!!!

Christmas at my inlaws is pretty much the same every year (12 years now). We HAVE to go to MIL's on C. day. We open presents, eat dinner.....all in silence. Yep. No one talks. You can hear a pin drop. Long periods of awkward silence, with a question every now and then about how work is...pretty much things you might discuss with an aquaintance. VERY weird. When we dropped off my BIL yesterday, DH and I could finally talk. The first words out of his mouth were, "That was HORRIFYING." Gifts were always an issue, since you never knew if anyone liked what they got. We've been doing okay giving gift cards the last few years-less stress. Next year I will be working and want to go away for the holidays. DH feels bad about not going to his family's, but it really is unejoyable to say the least. He thinks we should continue to go. I would feel bad if my future daughter in law would not want to come over, but I am the type of person to have my own plans, anyway. It's also the same at Thanksgiving, Easter, birthdays, and any other gathering.

I was sick all day. I am church organist for 2 churches. We opened presents got dressed and went to church. By the time I got home I crawled in bed and didn't come out except for trips to thte bathroom. Today I'm much better and we're having our Christmas dinner tonight.

Wow, that is strange. In my family, there is always someone talking. In fact, on my mom's side, you can't get them to shut up. LOL. Luckily no major events here. Yesterday was a pretty slow day for us.

Right before we sat down to eat my bil's wife got a phone call from her sister in law telling her that her other brother was dead in his apartment.... really sad. :guilty:

this year went realy well-no major upsets or issues. but we can compare all holiday get-togethers against our "white-trash" christmas of a few years back and not much will seem major in comparison. apparantly after leaving our home for christmas eve a few years ago, 2 of my brothers got into a verbal argument in my mother's front yard-the one threatened (phone in hand) to call 911 on the other, the other calls him on the dare. the first brother dials 911 on the phone and accidently hits the "send" on the phone which patches the call through. he hangs up before the operator says anything beyond "911 what's your emergency". well-911 automaticly dispatches when a hang up occurs so at midnight christmas eve my mother (and all her neighbors) are treated to 2 police cars with lights flashing coming up her driveway. needless to say NOONE showed up for christmas dinner at our house (and we got deluged with phone calls from everyone trying to tell us their side of the story).
