All of the decorations at WDW start going up in the first part of November. They do a little at a time at all of the resorts and the parks. Last year there was a schedule for the decorating and it seems like they were putting up the tree at WL around the middle of November. People camp out and watch them put up the trees sometimes. They are all up before Thanksgiving.
We were there 2 years ago the calendar week before Thanksgiving. We moved around from the GF to the AKL to the YC. We watched a lot of the directions go up in the hotels over that time frame. One morning, we woke up (we were fortunate enough to have a view of the main pool) at the GF, and it was like Santa had come overnight! Everything has in the red poinsettias, etc. We were a bit disappointed to see them tending to so much of it during the day though. It was kind of cool to see the Christmas trees in sections out in the parking lots, too.
I was there this past season in mid November and there were already a lot of directions up- especially in DTD. Franck's at the GF (we were there for wedding planning) was already decked out in the poinsettias, as well. It's either getting earlier and earlier or they do a rotating schedule.
We just got back from the BC and had arrived on November 29th. Everything was up when we got there. We did notice that things in the parks and grounds kept sprouting up over night.
My DH and I just got back this week. We stayed at the AKL & GF. We toured The Boardwalk, Yacht Club, Contemporary, Poly, Wilderness Lodge, and Port Orleans French Quarter. Other than the GF, we thought the Boardwalk was the best. All the decorations were exceptional and well themed to their respective resort.
We were there November 9 and Disney had already started! Of course, not of all them, but they were well underway. And Christmas music was playing all around us.
We were there October 9-15 and they were already starting to decorate in MGM. Some of the buildings alreay had lights in front of them and some walkways were closed off as they were putting up lights on buildings. I guess like a Christmas tree, Lights go first then decorations. You would not notice the lights unless you were looking to take a picture next to a building in NY. Liz
