So Iger is in, but the overpriced nickel and diming continues. I know it's only been a week, but come on DVC. The advertised event here would cost our family over $600 for roughly seven hours in a park with some food (in PizzeRizzo) and some beer/wine for adults. Why not just buy regular tickets and spend the whole day in the park? I can't imagine the food offerings are worth over $600. This is not a discount and I feel like the offer is a slap in the face. DVC/Disney can't seriously think this is something special that guests will jump on. Please let me know your thoughts. Details of the offer are below:

While I think it is a bit on the high side and not something I would be interested in, it certainly doesn’t bother me at all that they are offering an experience like this as there could be someone who does find it is something that works for them.

I do like that they are at least starting to come up with more DVC events as options.

And i could see a couple who didn’t have park hoppers deciding this might work out for them…or someone who had planned a resort day and deciding it might be nice to get more time at HS.

Is this really a benefit of being a direct owner?🤔
Of course not, if there Is no new information. If it’s just a buffet of food, with park reservations after 4, no. If it’s something extra like free merchandise, meet and greet with Neil Patrick Harris or Josh Gad or something, then maybe.

Go , don't go. Everyone has their reason that they think it is a good benefit for them.

The issue is these $$$$ events sell out. This is the new math for the parks.

So Iger’s first order of business should be to know about a DVC event that was already in the works and stop that form of nickel and diming?

I completely agree with everything else you said, but the Iger statement is so far out of left field….

Direct owners deserve better. Or free!

As a person who owns mostly direct now, I certainly don’t feel that way at all.

I am excited, cost or not, that they are starting to do more things for DVC.

It’s more of an opportunity to go if you want to.

Going on a DVC Member Cruise costs a lot of money. You have to own enough Direct to be able to pay to go. I go because I really enjoy the experience. Not all Blue card owners would even care to go.

I think there was an opportunity for “free” new movie screening not too long ago. Years ago we had the opportunity to go to one of those.

That's why my next sentence started with "I know it's only been a week..."

I don't expect major changes or halting things in the works from the guy in his first week.

Ultimately, I don't think he will change the nickel and diming. Some of that started under his previous tenure already.

Yes, some people will go and maybe this event will sell out, but I don't find any value in this.

I look at it this way....

We go in the fall for 7 nights and get 5-day passes. We typically spend another $180/person to attend MNSSHP which adds another "park day". I see this event as a similar offering. Although the park will not be closed to only those participating, and it won't be open until midnight, the cost does include alcohol (for those who partake) and food. If I were already going to be at the park that day, I would certainly not see the "value" in this offering, but as an opportunity to add a day to my itinerary (complete with food and alcohol), I can see where this has some appeal.

It is not for everyone, and it is not something that I would say is a great deal or something that would entice me to buy DVC, but it is also not a terrible idea.

This would be us in January. My guests decided not to get a ticket for our first day because we don’t arrive until 1 pm so didn’t want to waste the extra $$ or so to do that 4th day.

But, if this was an option, I could seem them deciding to since HS is on the top of their list as a park.

Which is what we did for Dec 11th to attend the MVMCP. My guests wanted to do that instead. So, for them, it didn’t cost much more than their daily ticket for that day. For me, as an AP holder, it was all extra.

One of my biggest problems with doing the event on these nights is that it coincides with the only two Extended Evenings for HS. These nights also happen to be party nights at MK. So up until 9:00p HS will be slammed with day guests (check the wait times on party nights at other parks). You've now thrown another event that will potentially bring more people into the park that night.

I was initially excited about having an EE at HS when we are there, but now I'm thinking we may just go to AK and enjoy smaller crowds and an earlier night.

I get it might add more attendance for EE but my guess is it won’t be to such a degree it would overwhelm.

Even now, anyone who didn’t have a hopper could easily add it for their tickets to take advantage of the EE without doing this event.

We also have no idea the cap either.

Is there a time listed on this event? I know that the admission is "after 4", but when is the actual dining event? Is it a "come and go as you please" set up? If it is an AYCE deal, that would certainly add to the value than if it were a plated event with a "time limit".

I look at this as a DVC only extra hours event with food and wine. I don’t think the price is out of line with other paid after hour events. The price will seem expensive to some people and not to others. Look how fast the parties at the MK sell out and some nights the tickets are more than $159.

I would consider this event if we were going to be in Disney during that time. At least dvc is offering some new things.

This is me. I am happy to see that they are attempting to add more DVC opportunities, even if that opportunity doesn’t work for everyone in terms of value.

I’m probably the only one that thinks the Pizza Rizzo would be kinda fun cause I love the upstairs theming.
But don’t want to encourage the constant pricing for every minute at Disney. So I will not even consider it for any $$$ .
No thank you Disney , DVC , etc etc.
