I had knee surgery on 3/1/11 to remove part of a torn meniscus. I have a trip booked for 5/1/11 I'm hoping I'll be back on my feet by then. However, if I'm not I was wondering if anybody could explain the holding account for me and what datecould I cancel and not have them go into a holding account. I was looking on dvcmember.com put could not find the info. I really dont what to cancel but dont know if I will be able to use a scooter since it will be me, my mom, wife and two kids and my mom will already has a scooter rented (she's getting a knee replacement in june GREAT Knees in our family:scared1:)

You must cancel or rebook at least 31 days before the start of your trip. Otherwise, your points go into holding. That means you can only use them to book at trip no more than 60 days out and they will expire at the end of your use year. Look at your booking deadline as well, in case you need to bank those points. If you are at least four months out from the end of your UY at 31 days out, you could bank them.

I've already had one knee replacement and am going to have to have the other one done sometime in the next year or two - whenever I get tired of the pain. Good luck with your recovery.

My DH had similar surgery and had a quick and easy recovery. Of course, everyone is different, but I hope your recovery goes just as well.

(shameless physical therapy plug by your friendly resident physical therapist!) :flower3: Did your orthopedic surgeon recommend any PT? Surgery to repair a torn meniscus is typically not a difficult recovery, however PT can help you regain full range of motion and strength much quicker. If your doctor didn't recommend it, I would ask at your next follow up. There's no reason you shouldn't be 100% recovered by your trip. Good luck! :goodvibes

I start PT on tuesday. I just worried since I am still using one crutch. I've got some pain still. My range of motion is limited to about 90 degrees. I I tried going without the crutch yesterday and it really hurt. So I have two weeks to get to the point were I'm comfortable I'll be good enough by May. Hope I get a good PT.

So do I! Make sure you continue icing. Do lots of quad sets (tightening up your quad muscle and holding it for 5 seconds, relax, repeat) with your leg straight. Also do lots of heel slides: lie on your back and bend your knee up as far as you can, then slide back down. Don't push past the painful point. You should be up around 120 degrees by 4 weeks after surgery, and full ROM (130-135 degrees) by 8 weeks post op. Good luck! I hope you are good to go in time to enjoy your trip. :goodvibes
