Hold my umbrella while I find your poncho! A May 2012 TR-- NEW-FINALLY! 1/17; pg. 29

DTD is so much more pleasant in the morning, of course it's easier for me to spend money when it's less crowded too......

So glad you all liked EoS, it's one of my favorites!

Uh oh, worried about the Tower of Throw Up!

Then it was decided to have some lunch. There was somewhere I had never eaten at, but I really wanted to try. It was Earl of Sandwich. The line was so long when we walked in, but we decided to try it anyway. Glad we did, because the line moved fairly quickly, and we loved it! Rachel admitted later that after reading the menu, she was prepared not to like it very much, but after eating it, she changed her mind. That bread---DELICIOUS!! :thumbsup2

So glad you finally decided to give Earl a try. He does not disappoint! I wish I could buy that bread here at home.

I too love those lego sculptures at DTD. They're amazing!

I also don't know why we didn't eat at EofS this time. Everyone raves about it. Why did I just walk past? Sigh.

We are going to do DTD the morning we arrive (have to get those annual passes) and do some shopping; I'm glad to hear it was less crowded. Love the towel animal...too cute.

The title of your next update doesn't sound too good.

Mmmm, EofS is so good! I could go for one of their Italian sandwiches right about now!

Uh-oh, I don't like the sound of what's to come!

EOS is one of my favorite places to eat, I'm glad you tried it and liked it!
Stinks about your luck with the slow driver though. And oh no, Tower of Throw Up does not sound good!

:) on it being easier to spend your money!

I hesitated to put that about the throw-up-don't want to gross anyone out too much! But, we had an incident.......

If I could buy that bread here, I would not be able to fit into my car! ;)

You'll just have to plan another trip so that you can try EoS! ;)

I hope it's not too crowded for you either, Kathy. :) I had always heard that the mornings were the best time to go over there, and we were not disappointed.

Yes, sorry to be so blunt. We had a small problem during the ride......

We loved EoS, Sarah! I'm so glad we tried it. I just hate that it's located in DTD since we don't always go over there.

 Can you believe our luck to get the same grand-pa driver?

Down days at DTD can be nice (and much needed) but oh man, is that place crazy! :( Usually, when you go inside WoD, it's wall to wall people, so I can completely understand your love-hate relationship with the place.

Glad the trip turned out to be an enjoyable experience, though! Sounds like everyone was able to buy something they wanted, and I'm happy to hear EoS was a success. I struck out the first time I ate there, but loved my selection the second time around. Do you remember what you ordered?

Those caramel apples! :cloud9: They look delicious!

45 minute bus drive from DTD to the Poly.....:worried: Guess your driver was in no rush. :rotfl2:

Enjoyed your update even though everything about it was totally foreign to me- the sleeping in and the trip to DTD.

I totally get Reid's internal clock. I have the same thing, although mine is unfortunately set for between 4:30 and 5 am. Every day. Weekdays, Weekends, Holidays. Vacations. The rest of my family are fairly early risers too, which is why it is not trouble for us to make rope drop.

We have only been to EoS once, in 2008. Since then our DTD dining has been at T-Rex. I would love to go back and try Earl again or Wolfgang. They both get such rave reviews.

About the only thing I enjoy at DTD is the Lego store. The creations they have are AMAZING! That is where most of our souvenir budget is spent. I usually take a couple of steps into World of Disney then back right out. Too big. Too crowded.

I am totally NOT a fan of the Downtown Disney buses. Now I know why. Your encounter with the same bus driver explains it. I bet there is just one guy driving the buses on the entire DTD route. That's why it takes so long for a bus to show up.

Love your towel animal.

Sorry to hear about your upcoming chapter. But you have to go with truth in reporting around here!

Haha, I know what you mean about DTD, I love going there and shopping and browsing around, but the crowds can get insane! I've never taken a bus over there, but it's such a pain to drive there too, it seems like no matter how you get there, it takes forever! :rotfl2:

OMG I have to make one of those apples someday, they always look so good!

Oh no, the Tower of Throw up? :scared1:

I have a love/hate relationship with DTD. I love it, but hate going there late at night. It's too crowded and just unpleasant.

I love that towel animal. So adorable.

Uh oh. Tower of throw up doesn't sound good. LOL!!

The Full Montague---Freshly Roasted Beef, Turkey, Aged Swiss & Sharp Cheddar, Lettuce, Roma Tomatoes & the Earl's Mustard Sauce (copied from their website!) Delicious! :thumbsup2

I completely agree about WoD. Plus, I can never get any cell service in there so I can't even call someone to find them!

Truth in reporting will be ugly sometimes...

The apples are delicious-expensive, about $10, but so yummy! :)

!

Oh, yeah, late at night is just too crazy crowded. I can't take it either!

We really like Earl! And they sure can handle the lines well! It was nicer to eat there this time because we could sit outside. The first time we ate there, it was February and pretty chilly, so we wanted to be inside. Luckily, this very sweet older man came over to me as we were getting our drinks and had me follow him to his table so we could have it when they left. Very sweet!

We usually stay away from DTD, but my oldest really wanted to hit Little Mismatched this trip, so we went. We planned it for the day we were staying at Saratoga Springs so we were able to just walk there. I refuse to go there if I have to take the bus. It always takes us years to get there on the bus.

Yum, I love to dine with the Earl. He is one of my favorite lunch companions. ;)

I've never done the make your own treat at Goofy's. I'm thinking I need to rectify that sometime soon. That apple looks super yummy!

Glad you had a more pleasant DTD experience. We try to always go in the morning too, because night time can just get so crazy!

That's how we do DTD too....can't handle actually shopping there in the evening...have to take a morning and do it then! I like to look at things, make a few decisions and then decide....but I find if I try that in the evenings I end up with things I shouldn't have bought:rotfl2:

When we've stayed at POR, we've taken the boat, but I swear I could walk faster than that boat!

One time we drove---BIG MISTAKE!! That was the worst experience! :scared:

They also have the rice krispy that you can create with toppings! Those are yummy too! :thumbsup2

That's funny because when I'm there in the evening, I get so stressed with the huge crowds, I just give up and don't buy anything! :upsidedow

Hi,
Found your tr tonight and am all caught up. great report and pics so far. You all seem to be handling the rain well.

Looking forward to more.

I have to admit, I've been lucky as far as crowds in DTD go. I guess that's why I like it there, I've never been there while it was too busy! :confused3
Mmmm EOS, so yummy!
Love the displays around the Lego store, they're just so amazing to think that someone built them out of tiny lego bricks!
Drooling over those candy apples here!
