We stayed at Howard Johnson Maingate East in January. We got robbed on day 5. Our door was tricky to shut (you had to pull it shut). We should have demanded to have another room (they had plenty) but we didn't cause we were settled in when we realized it. We assumed the maid would pay attention and leave the door shut (locked) when she left each day. Either she left the door unlocked that day or she took our stuff herself. The hotel made NO attempt at reimbursement or even room rate reduction/free night. I understand this but it still sucked. But I did find the hotel to be clean and well appointed for $29/night. You get what you pay for. There ARE roaches in Florida, even at Disney. It happens. If you want to save some $$ and are not too picky, HOJO is a good choice. If you want higher end accomodations with better service, go to Disney resorts or "nicer" hotels than HOJO and pay more. I've done both. We had a great trip, I'd still stay there again now that I'm "over it". We didn't get robbed of too much by the way, just some souveniers and Universal passes that the park replaced.
