I'm planning to go to DL over spring break. I can get the Anaheim Hilton for $119 per night. My DH is a Hilton HHonors Diamond, so we'll get an upgrade to executive floor with lounge privilages of free carb-laden breakfast and an honor bar at night. I stayed there a couple years ago on Priceline and enjoyed it, but I thought it was a bit of a walk to the parks and I hated the shuttle.

I just noticed some folks were talking about how great the HoJo's is. I checked for my dates and I can get a regular room for $71 and a theme park view for $89.

What do you think? It sounds like the HoJo's is really close and I won't miss the breakfast much since my DH and I are doing Atkins. I can buy my DD pop-tarts and she's happy :). Does anyone have pictures from a theme park view room?

Thanks!

I just went through the same dillema for our trip in Decemebr and I chose the Hojo... I had never stayed at the hilton, but had stayed at the marriott before. The deal killers for me were the distance, shuttle issue and also the standard rooms, hojo has many more choices, there rooms are much more spacious than typical hotel rooms.

so go hojo!

You're talking about my two favorite places to stay when visiting DL/DCA, HOJO and the Hilton Anaheim.

I love both hotels for different reasons. That said, if you compare the two, Hojo can't be beat when it comes to location in proximity to the parks, and the Hilton can't be beat when it comes to views of the parks and fireworks.

So Hojo is closer and the Hilton has better views. Hojo has mini fridges in their rooms and a great little convenience store with all kinds of snacks, beer, milk, cereal, or whatever else you may need, but the Hilton has room service and on site restaurant and bar.

The Hojo's rooms are bigger, but the Hilton's rooms are decorated slightly nicer (although Hojo's rooms are decorated nicely).

I'm I helping you or just confusing you even more.

Overall, I say for best value, a great stay, and close proximity to parks, go for Hojo. The views are a little obstructed by trees, but you'll be able to have a nice view of the fireworks, monorail, tomorrow land, and the materhorn. Plus, you don't have to worry about the annoying shuttles. Good Luck!

I'm a frequent visitor at the Anaheim Hilton and would suggest it to anyone. The executive lounge and the Hilton is worth it to me, the 20 minute walk to the parks isn't bad, and if you don't want to walk the entire way you can catch the park tram in the parking lot on the way.

The views from the rooms facing disneyland are fabulous. If I knew how to post a picture from my room, I'd insert it here.

Enjoy your stay no matter where you choose.

Diane

I would check out the Hojo websit and look at all their pictures to get an idea of what their rooms and property is like.

Someone else posted a couple of pictures when they stayed at the Hojo.

You've already stayed at the Hilton, so you already know what they're like. As I said before I think both places are great. I love the Hilton for views, roomservice is great, and it's further from the freeway so I can't hear the traffic when I'm trying to sleep.
I love the Hojo for proximity to the parks and value.

Goofydiane has a great idea to cut across the DC parking lot and catch a park tram to the gates. We would have done that too except the last time we stayed at the Hilton, which was last November, the crowds were very light, so the DC parking lot was closed, and therefore no tram for us to hop. Others have done it though and said it cut their walking time by half.

Good Luck!

Wait a minute! You can see the monorail from the HOJO? That would just about do it for me.

The Hilton is not available for the first couple days, so maybe I'll make a reservation at the HOJOs for a few days and then move over to the Hilton if I'm not happy.

I remember the view from the Hilton and I just dug up a photo from May, 2003. This is from the Executive Lounge:

Yep,

That's the panoramic view of DL/DCA that I remember from the Hilton, and it's awsome, especailly to view the fireworks. The picture you showed is almost the exact view we had from our room when we stayed there last November.

You can absolutely see the monorail from the Hojo, as well as the Matterhorn, some of tomorrowland, and the DL railroad (train) when it goes by. The view is not nearly as panoramic or awesome as the Hilton's, but still the Hojo has a nice view, and a great view of the fireworks. ::yes::

I don't think you'll have any problem with Hojo. If you make reservations there, you can rest easy because you know it'll be terrific! It's not as posh as the Hilton, but it comes pretty close.

Again, good luck! :flower: :flower3: :flower:

We love the HoJo!! I'm sure it's not as posh as the Hilton (I haven't stayed at that Hilton - but have stayed at many others over the years) but IMO it is absolutely the best value in Anaheim.

The walk to the park is 7 - 10 minutes. The park view rooms in the tower building are great! You have a nice view of the Matterhorn, the monorail, tomorrowland, and the train when it goes round. Great view of the fireworks at night! You can also see the fireworks from the main pool area (not quite as well, but still pretty good). Our kids love to be in the pool watching the fireworks.

HoJo has two pool areas, both nice. The rooms are extremely clean and well maintained. The gift shop is great. A huge selection of breakfast, snack food, inexpensive souveniours, etc.. The grounds are nice, lots of flowers, etc.. and the twinkle lights are just magical at night!

Mimi's Cafe is just accross the street, great place to eat after a day at the parks! They also have nice muffins, pastries, etc.. that you can buy on your way to the park in the morning.

The staff at HoJo cannot be beat. They are fabulous!

I cannot recommend the HoJo enough.
