We'll be staying there in July and I'm just wondering if I should request a particular room. I realize the Kids Suites are in building 1... does the top floor of the building have skylights? Any advice on a lower or higher floor? I'm guessing we'll have the A/C running and it will drown out the highway noise. I'd love any advice!

I can't answer your question about the skylights, but when we stayed in a Kids Suite room in December, we reserved one near the elevator since the reservation person on the phone recommended them as being quieter.

I haven't stayed in one yet, but when I was reserving ours for October the lady said the top floor has skylights and suggested requesting one by the elevator as it would be quieter.

I was there early April I was on the 6th floor right next to the elevator and the turth is although we loved the room and all, the noise was really loud the worst was the 1st night we arrived late so we didn't go to the park I don't think I slept at all that night. The kids were fine DH did so so took him a while to fall asleep but once he did he was ok. The next few nights we were there were not bad since we were at the park like 14hr a day or so it wasn't hard to fall asleep.

I don't know if all the kids suite are on the same side of the bldg I think we were in a even # room and the whole time was thinking if we were across the hall the noise would not be a problem but I don't know if they have kids suite on the other side.

Over all we would stay there again I think the next time I will take something to help me sleep or use ear plugs or something for the 1st night. The room is great loved having the kids in there own rooms they loved the bunk beds the rooms were very clean and spacious the walk was not a problem at all even after 14hrs in the park and pushing a double stroller with a 6 and 3 yr old in it on the way back.

I didn't like that the door to the balcony didn't lock I was worried abot the kids so I put one of the cubes they have for tables in between the balcony door and the closet just to make it alittle hard for them to get to in my mind at least. I thought I had read that the hotel was going to be putting locks on those doors

How big are the rooms? Are they as big as 2 standard rooms put together? I'm excited I was able to score a room for June! Are there refrigerators in each of the rooms? Can you give me a description?

Yes, they are like two standard rooms with a door between. Two bathrooms. One room has bunk beds, closet, dresser/desk, coffee table, small couch and tv. The next room has a King bed, small table/chairs, desk/dresser, closet, microwave and refigerator. I didn't take many pics, but here are a couple.

We were on the first floor - room 1118 - and I thought the traffic noise was awful. Luckily (ha ha) I got sick and took Nyquil 4 of the 5 nights we were there. I doubt I would have slept much without the Nyquil (our neighborhood is freakishly quiet and I'm used to silence when I sleep). The noise mildly bothered DH and didn't bother DS at all.

I had requested a 6th floor room for our Kids' Suite stay last fall. We were in the one by the ice machine - not the elevators. The freeway noise seemed loud and noticeable when we first went in the room, but after about 10 minutes it wasn't noticeable to us. None of us (family of 5) had troubles sleeping at all.

Yes, I want to know more about the rooms also. We have a kids suite booked in Sept. and am wondering what rooms are the best. Is there a thread already regarding this topic???
We have stayed at the Hojo many times, always in a QQ Garden View (nice room too)...but looking forward to the kids suite!!!!
Would love to hear from those and which floor they stayed on...:goodvibes

We are in a Kid's Suite right now and LOVE it!:goodvibes

There are 14 of them in the hotel all in building #1. They are at either end of each floor on the highway side. At the near end it is between the stairwell and the elevator. At the far end it is between the stairwell and the ice machine. This one is closer to the highway. I like the locations because we have nobody around us and I don't feel I had to hush my kids.

The highway noise is loud. It bugged me at first but now I mostly don't pay attention. (Kind of like when your kid is saying, "mom, mom, mom...")

We are on the 7th floor which has the skylights. We like them--the room is so sunny! On the adult side the skylight is shuttered where the sun comes in but no the kid side.

We honestly couldn't be happier with the kid suite or the HOJO. The service has been excellent and the room is beautiful. (OK, if they could move the highway...) The pools are fantastic.

The walk is reasonable: about 15 minutes from room to main gate. That's with 3 kids ages 3, 4, and 10 and a loaded stroller. We have gone back for naps each day so that's 2 round trips. It is just fine and a good chance to decompress. :)

I highly recommend!

Regarding reservations... do they charge your card when reserving a room or do they charge you at check-in???

TIA

Thanks for the review...:cutie: seems like you enjoy it!!
So, are you in the room closer to ice machine or elevator? I have been told that the "ice machine" room is less loud ...
Did you request the 7th floor? Just curious because I think I want to try that floor in Sept. , but I know they can't guarantee requests.
Glad you are having fun and enjoying the HoJo (we always do):love:
Keep the reviews coming...:dance3:
and bnbheartdisney, yes pay at check-in so you can reserve now with no payment but make sure you know the cancellation policy, i think it is 48hrs...

Are the bunk beds short or could a person over 5' sleep in them?

They're a standard twin size. We had a 5'5" adult in them just fine! Now, the chair-bed is not a standard twin size, and would only work for a child, I'd say. It was perfect for DS10 while Grandma was in the bunk!

Are the chair beds comfortable at all? The one we had at the Fairfield was terrible! We fought over who had to sleep on it each night.
