Hojo beds--how can I tell if they're the new ones?

We're at Hojos for our first of three nights now, and I think things got messed up at checkin. When I booked, I talked to Jennifer and she was great and said she had us in a deluxe queen room in building 2 with the new upgraded beds, and she would try to get one with a full balcony. The beds were my main room request. When we checked in today, it was noted that we had requested a balcony, and asked if we still wanted that, and we kind of shrugged and said sure, so that's what we got. Now I'm wondering if we lost out on the upgraded bed to be put in a room with a balcony, because the beds don't seem upgraded to me at all. They're not pillowtop, and I can feel the springs some. How can you tell if they are the new ones? (I have a lousy back and neck, so the bed matters for me)

Other than disappointment over not having quite the same kind of room I was hoping for, Hojos is great, and the kids have LOVED the Pirate's Cove pool area. Looking forward to hitting the park for the first time tomorrow!

What floor are you on?? I am wondering if that makes a difference. We were there in Dec. and we requested the upgraded beds and were on the first floor. So, no full balcony - which we didn't care about anyway - but great beds. They should be pillow top-ish and have the tone on tone sheet/blanket thingie and very comfy. We slept on some beds in Vegas on our way to DLR that were just fabric covered springs, so we really appreciated how great the beds were at HoJo.

If you feel like it (and I would) you should call the front desk and ask if you are in an upgraded bed room and if you are not - ask to change. It will totally save your back and neck. For me, that would be totally worth it! Good Luck and enjoy your visit. :thumbsup2

We're on the fourth floor. The mattress isn't pillowtop and the bed has white sheets with a duvet cover between them, and a yellow floral bedspread over the top. That said, the bed wasn't bad at all last night, but I had trouble sleeping anyway, so hard to know (it wasn't the bed's fault). The pillows aren't well suited to my neck (they're really big, thick ones), so maybe I can ask if they have any alternatives. I didn't wake up sore though, so that's the main thing.

I better get ready to hit the park, and I may ask at the front desk, but then again, I'm not thinking my family would be very pleased to pack everything up to change rooms.

Look in the closet, sometimes they have alternative pillows stored in there. Otherwise, call down to the front desk and they'll get you a "flatter" pillow.

The old beds weren't awful, I slept on one in March, but once you've slept in one of their new heavenly beds, you can really tell a difference.

Hope you are able to sleep better tonight and enjoy the rest of your stay.

All the deluxe rooms in building two are supposed to have the 'heavenly' beds by now, I believe. If you don't think yours is one, you should call the front desk, ask for Jennifer or Lorealle, and explain about your back, and that you were told by Jennifer you'd get one. They are so kind, I know they will try to accomodate you.

Glad you're enjoying the place otherwise, and I hope the rest of your visit is a blast! :)

I dont know how to tell, but wanted to say, we were there 2 weeks ago. Stayed in room 2422, which I was told had new beds. When I sat down on the bed for the firest time I expected, well I dont know what I expected, but I certainly never felt a "oh my gosh, this is heaven" moment. It was comfortable, but to me nothing special. And I agree, the pillows were AWEFUL. I wish I had thought to call the front desk and ask for a flatter one.

We always take our own pillows....even when we went to Baja a couple years ago, we took our own pillows. LOL Yes, we are weird that way, I need my pillow, no other will cut it. :)

LOL,^^ We must be kindred spirits! I always bring my own pillow with me, especially because I have ongoing neck and back problems. I hate waking up on vacation sore and in pain, or uncomfortable so unable to get to sleep in the first place. :scared: Most hotel pillows are usully too hard, too soft, too thick or too flat. But mine is just right.;) :goodvibes

Yup, the more we post the more similar we really are. LOL People are going to start thinking we are the same person with 2 screen names. LOL
