1st timer to DL, next June; remember reading the posts of DISers who scored Entertainment rates for Ho Jo.

I did do a search:confused: nada...

while i know probably everyone BUT me knows how this works; can someone post a recap PLEASE.:)

I've called both the 800# and the hotel, they tell me the only rate they have available is AAA; not showing the mousesavers links (7% & 15%) either.

Perhaps it's too soon to be booking? I'm just used to WDW where you have to book ASAP.

I'm wondering if i should even expect Entertainment rates the end of June/early July (8 nights) or

whether the DL view rooms qualify?

All advice is most welcome:thumbsup2

Disney rooms do qualify for an entertainment rate of $69 but only in the slower times. Early June you might get the rate but during your time I doubt it will be available. We went at that time this year and the cheapest I could get was the mousesavers rate of $118 a night for the disney view room. Good Luck!

You must call in-house reservations at the HoJo using their local number. Ask to talk with Jennifer Breland, she is very familiar with the ent. rate. It may be too early for June reservations, but she will tell you when to call back to check if the rate is available.

However, I agree with the above poster. The chance of scoring an ent. rate during peak season is slight to none.

Thanks, i was afraid of that.

I'm confused as to the mousesaver's rate, evidently it's not appearing on the hotels system yet.

Guess i could book to hold the room & then try to switch it over later once the discount becomes available?

DangerMouse - thanks for the link! better to know it's probably not going to happen than spin my wheels.:thumbsup2

Not sure what to do, hate to pay so much more than the other quotes i have for the Clarion, Sheraton Park & Econolodge on Manchester (nearly double the price).

It's hard to make an qualified decision when you've never been there.;) DH thinks i'm nuts booking already, i'm afraid if i wait too long i'll be stuck somewhere awful.

I honestly think Jennifer can give you a better price than $150. Call her on Monday during regular business hours and see what she can do for you. Then you can make a better educated decision.

Have you considered other hotels on Harbor? The Candy Cane, BWPPI and Tropicana are all highly rated by Disers.

Can anyone who has stayed at the HOJO tell me the difference in rooms?

NBQ2/Home Office/NS/2 Queens/ Premium/5 ppl max/Daily snack/Micro/ Fridge/Coffeemaker/Hairdryer/Internet

and

NQQ1/Balc/NS/2 Queens/5 people max/ Premium/Disney view/Upper floor/ Fridge/Coffeemaker/Hairdryer/Internet

Sounds like the latter would be better for us (2 kids) but not sure, both same price? Thank you for any other hints, also if anyone have any discounts to the CandyCane Inn, we really loved that place when we went about 8 years ago but just abit steep in price.....

Also, HOJO doesn't have cont...breakfast do they?

I can!

NBQ2 - This is a business office room in Bldg. 2 - large bldg. toward the back of the property - probably a balcony w/view of the quiet pool. It will have 2 queen beds, and is the only type of room at the HoJo that offers a microwave (other than Suites). Although what I find ironic about these rooms is that they have a micro, but no table to sit at to eat. :confused3

NQQ1 - This is a premium room with a park view in Bldg. 1. There will be 2 queens, a sink/vanity outside the bathroom area, but no microwave. There is a chance of getting a noisy room in this tower if you are close to the freeway side of the bldg., so make sure you request to be close to the office side of the bldg. when you book.

The HoJo doesn't offer a cont. breakfast, but we always just do cereal/milk and fruit in our room before we head out. I personally would choose the NBQ2 room because I prefer the assurance of a quiet room in Bldg. 2, having a microwave for reheating MiMi's leftovers, and we've experienced park view before and are over it. ;)

The best deal you can get at the Candy Cane Inn is a AAA rate. I've never seen anything lower.

We stayed in the latter room and really liked it. We would put the kids down to bed, and go chill out on the deck overlooking the park. It was very nice!!!

We got the Entertainment rate in June... We were there during the Nemo opening. And no... they dont have Continental breakfast.

To the OP, have you read Hydroguy's tips for WDW people new to DL, and also his thoughts on hotels and getting to the parks (I think of it as a "stay close and walk VS stay farther out and drive/park" pro/con tip)? Just in case you haven't, his tips are all here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1520483

Also, have you seen the Del Sol? Someone here just got back and liked it...I'm going to Disneyland this September, and though I left it too late to get the super-secret (have to call them directly, NOT the 800#, talk with Jennifer, and hope they have that rate left) Entertainment rate at HoJo, when I was looking at the Del Sol, I found a $90/night rate. Of course, in June, it would likely be different...BUT I'm just saying it's a bit lower than the others in the area, and that might stay true for other months too.

Have you seen this map of the hotels in the area? http://www.geocities.com/ashpsyche/DisneylandLinkMap.html

bumbershoot, yes i did find that thread - what a gem! took a quick read-through, didn't see anything specific on any of the sites as to the Clarion or Sheraton Park (2 properties we get a pre-paid offer from DHs employer).

I do have a older edition of the UG for DL, can't find listing for the Sheraton Park...did it used to be the Coast Hotel?

also seems as though a Choice Hotels property (behind Mimi's on Manchester) gets ok reviews on trip advisor; certainly is cheap...anyone ever stay here?

this is what i needed to hear:thumbsup2

wasn't sure how quick things to book up @ DL; WDW resorts availability can disappear for prime time shortly after the rates are announced.

glad to hear i have some breathing room.

When does value season usually end in June? We could possibly move things up to mid month.

I would probably start looking for rooms in January. That's when I booked my room at the Carousel for July 2007. Now, I didn't get a rock bottom rate, but I got a fair rate, and when I read what some people are paying to stay right across the street on Harbor, I know I got a fair deal for peak season.

What I do when I look for a room for DL is I _only_ look at the good neighbor ones right across the street on Harbor. I know I may pay a few more dollars a night to stay there, but it is worth it to me. It doesn't matter to me if the Inn 1 mile away is half the price, I don't even look at that hotel, I know I want to stay right across the street. I look at all those hotels and pick the best deal. So far I've stayed at Camelot, Carousel, and Hojo's and would go back to any of those.

Good luck!

it ends the last couple of days in june...mid month you should be fine:goodvibes

We got HOJO for $87 a night Annual pass holder rate (HAd to call hotel to get it) and we called on July 1 for the dates July 6-8. This was last month when we made an unexpected last minute trip.

I have a reservation for Nov. 30 - Dec. 4 but I don't have an entertainment book yet. Do I need the current one or the 2008 one? I thought I read somewhere that the current 2007 one expires in Oct. or Nov. ? :)

The book is good through the end of November. I would think the 2007 book would work fine since you are checking in before it expires. But, if you want to be 100% sure, I'd double check with the hotel.

Hmmm... my card says "Valid now thru November 1, 2007", not the end of November. And that's the way I always remember it being. I think disneyfan4ever54 will be needing a 2008 book. You need to present the card to the front desk, from what they told me. If you forget it, you'll be charged the current rate for your room at the time.
