Well, when faced with another 15 inches of snow, after we had already shoveled ourselves out, it wasn't that appealing to stick around and see the blizzard...

What a creative use of snow days!! I spent mine sleeping today.

Well we did that too, and skiing, and then faced with the idea of two boys couped up in the house for the rest of the week I said no thank you. My DH is the one who said lets get out of here.

Well, yes, we are at AKL. And yes, we HAD dinner at San Angel tonight. And yes, we are having a fabulous time. And yes I would call me a brat too .... BLAME my DH, our APs, and a discount! I mean they cancelled school... what else could we do? We went skiing twice already and it cost practically as much!

Ohhhhh, so now I see why Jackie just called you a brat over on my trip report! Girl, you just take the cake!
I just have to say, of all my DIS friends you are most capable of pulling the best surprises!

Random surprises I know!!! BUT, well, when the iron is hot, you gotta use it! Discount, APs and free days.. we could have gone to my inlaws beach house in Willmington. But then DH said we can't enjoy the beach, but we can enjoy Disney if we just go a little further south...

BUT, if it is any consolation, it is cold! and the main pool at AKL is "under refurb" -- not that we would be swimming! We are colder than Christmas week, but at least the sun is out in spades, and with warm clothes, it is a pleasure to enjoy the "cold" knowing we escaped the worst snow fall we have had in DC history.... Sorry guys, the weather makes people do crazy things, and that is what happened to us.

We ran away from the mess, which will inevitably be there when we get home, but hopefully the roads will be plowed! We showed up late/early this morning (Wed) at 3am. They gave us our room obviously VERY early, so we almost felt like we had Tuesday night! They let us take a room ahead of time. We called them on the road to ask what we could do in this odd timing, and they were really willing to work with us! So we were very grateful. We were going to crash somewhere cheap along the way if need be, but we were okay driving, with a great book on tape, and since we left around noon, it worked out fine -- we really were not tired until we got here. We were/are a little punch drunk today, but took a great big nap before dinner. Came back to the resort from Epcot (watched SOME of illuminations) boys had bath and fell asleep the second their heads hit the pillow, and frankly, DH and I are right behind.

I will try to catch up if I can the next few days. We are leaving on Saturday -- no availability for Sat night on the AP discount, and we just decided to stay the afternoon then leave for home Christmas. I want to have a little time to see the damage, etc. at home and get sorted out for work, school, etc.

Nope, no consolation! I can't say that I blame you for running away from the snow -- you can only take so much. Hope you are having a great time! Was dinner at San Angel good? I hear mixed reviews about it, but I love the setting. AKL is still my favorite resort, and what a perfect place to escape to when you need to get as far away from the snow as possible! Say hello to my giraffes for me! Oh, and try to do the storytelling at the firepit -- the boys would enjoy it, and that fire would be perfect right now!

I am soooo envious! We didn't get the blizzard you had here in southern Ohio but we had a lot of snow. I am soo tired of it. DS is going to school today on a 2 hour delay but his school is the only one. All the others are closed.

I hope you have a magical time. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on AKL as we are staying there this summer.

Oh thanks for the tip on the storytelling! That is our plan tomorrow evening! We went to the Brown Derby tonight, and saw Fantasmic! The boys had never seen this, and so we all enjoyed it!

We really enjoyed San Angel! It was good! I had a poblano Chile Relleno and DH had their steak tacos... the boys LOVE quesadillas and black beans!
We all enjoyed it. It is a little pricey I guess, but no more than other places around WDW.

The giraffes have been wandering by our area a few times! And yes, Africa seems very apropos for the total opposite of a snowy climate!!!

Last spring on a Saturday afternoon, our district cancelled school for the following week because of an outbreak of H1N1. I tried really hard to convince DH to seize the opportunity and hop a plane to Disney...didn't work. Turns out they called teachers back to duty on tuesday and kids back on Thursday so I guess it was good we didn't go

Well I will try to get you your fix!!! And yes, I had the Hollywood, and I had a margarita -- they are better at San Angels -- and the Crab Cake and the cobb salad. I did not get dessert b/c we bought sweets at he candy shop before Fantasmic! But I know it is good!

We liked San Angels! We thought to go for lunch today but chose Chef's instead! Great place on a rainy afternoon for French Onion soup and quiche and chardonnay!
