Ho! Ho! Ho! Away we go - A Disney Christmas - 2/15 Dec TR final thoughts and FEB TR!

What a great Christmas! Especially to end it at the Osborne Lights! Love the update and excited to hear about the cruise and the summer trip....and what veras you ended up with.

Loved the parade pics! I noticed that the people standing opposite of where you were look like they were standing on bleachers? Or were they just standing on a ledge or higher grassy area? I think you picked a perfect morning to see the Christmas parade (Christmas morning).

Great updates for Christmas day!! We were there for Christmas Day in 2006 and it rained that day, too. :sad2: Maybe a trend?? We were in Epcot though. We were able to duck in a lot of shops and avoid quite a bit of the rain! Can't wait for more!!

Funny how an arcade can zap them right back into their excited happy zone isn't it? We had to pull that out the last night of our trip as well......

Yes it is rather funny... somehow I think boys are hardwired that way...

What a pleasure it was to read you report! Thank you for sharing!:wizard:

Thanks so much for coming over and for reading along! I hope you'll read the rest! ;)

I'm definitely enjoying your merry little report!

Kathy

I am glad to hear that! Thanks! It is so fun to relive the trip through these posts!!! Just a few more days now!

Thank you! It was, and I thought Osborne Lights would be a nice cap to the evening as well... It was really pleasant. All sorts of news to share, yes, but I want to finish this TR first!! :upsidedow

Hmmm? Not sure? I mean they were opposite us, is there a curb there? NO sidewalks so I am not sure... It was right infront of the Liberty Belle's dock I guess...

It was a great morning to see it, and we really enjoyed it :goodvibes

Thanks! Who knows!!?? A blessing and a curse, but it did get us more time without crowds I think, so I was okay with the rain! And it wasn't the whole time, only the early am. I am glad it stopped!

Somehow....I became unsubscribed to this. It happened to like FIVE of the PTR/TRs I was reading while I was at Disney. Pffft! Please forgive me, but I'm finally caught up!

I think Christmas at Disney just sounds so magical.

My favorite from the parade are the reindeer, I just love them.

I can't remember what else I was going to say except that I really want to try Flying Fish!

Wow. Iam totally loving your report so far. I can't wait to read more. I loved the Osbourne lights when we went at Thanksgiving. I think they would be a perfect finale to Christmas Day.

You got great pictures of the Christmas parade. I didn't get any because it was sprinkling the night we saw it. It looks totally different during the daytime.

I had planned to get back to Osborne Lights Christmas night too... we started out at DHS, but didn't make it back.

Stephanie

Those desserts you described sound soooo good! I LOVE Christmas flavors! Great pics of the lights. I wish I would have paid more attention to the details. I was so overwhelmed with the whole picture and the music and the snow! Sounds like you guys had a really good Christmas day!

So you know that your week long Christmas trip to Disney World is almost over when you run out of Christmas Cookies… here is our last one… :sad2:

Yep, it was here. Our final full day at Disney World… Well we knew it had to happen, right? We didn’t let it slow us down, and that morning we woke up, everyone got cleaned up, and we headed out to the Animal Kingdom. We wanted to try the Flights of Wonder and a few rides, so I stayed in Dino land while DH ran to get FPs for Everest. DS 4 & 7 and I rode the Triceratop Spin, and took a few photos of the christmas decor in Dino Land, as well as the mosaic dinosaur -- which I had never noticed before! It was pretty empty in the park at this point, so we had the Triceratops to ourselves!

Well we started with A Bug's Life, since we missed that earlier in the week. Here are the boys outside the entrance to the theater, checking out the Tree of Life carvings...

About this time, DH came back, and we grabbed our beloved pretzels and the boys some popcorn, and we strolled over to the Flights of Wonder show. It was cold that morning, and I think the cold was getting to us, because we also got hot chai for the wait... As we were seated waiting for the show, I noticed these Mickey's...

SO the show began, and all in all I think the Flights of Wonder is a cool show! I am glad we went! It was really neat to and funny, too! DS7 was selected to throw a grape for a bird to catch -- the whole time I was afraid he'd throw it at someone thus the bird would fly that low, but thankfully he did follow directions!

Here are some random shots of a few birds... Including the bald eagle!

Next up was the Safari -- DH had gotten FPs for this, too.... it was cold, like I mentioned, and we didn't see too many animals. Which is fine b/c we had been on it several time before. There was a little boy behind us shouting the animal names whenever we passed one, however, so maybe that is why the animals were hiding!!

A random blue bridge-y looking photo. I just like the color! I know it isn't a bridge but that is the eating area near Flame Tree I think... but the color is what caught my eye and it looks like a bridge :)

Now about this time I think we all realized how tired we actually were. SO DH and DS7 went to Everest to ride, and DS4 and I strolled along leisurely. We met up outside Everest and decided that even though it was still early and we had passes for the Lion King, the afternoon would be better if we all went back had lunch and relaxed. So that is what we did. I took pics of the tree as we left...

So I think we rushed a little bit that morning, and I wish we would have not headed out so early, I am not sure I am sold on AK in the am in the winter, either.... it is a better afternoon and summer park for us, if only because Kali is such a treat for us, but not in December! I think we would have been better off going to Epcot that am, since we could have walked, but live and learn! So we went to DTD, got lunch at WPE, and then headed back to the resort. I did laundry and we all just hung out and relaxed in the villa … I think we all took a nap, I can’t recall, but I think this was what we did that afternoon, since we were off to Fort Wilderness around 4:15 or so for our 5:00 Hoop de Do Review! Everyone was looking forward to this and our Sleigh ride... I was excited for that! AND that is coming up next! Well, tomorrow!

What a great idea to go to Osbourne lights to cap off Christmas Day! Your pictures were fabulous and so uncrowded! So much detail! I'll bet you all were so tired after going for so many hours!

I'll bet that afternoon relaxing after your AK morning was just what you needed and probably made your evening at Fort Wilderness that much better.
Can't wait for that update!

I like the blue bridge too; in fact am not sure I have ever seen it. Truth be told, I am not sure I am sold on AK period- let alone summer vs. winter. :scared: But perhaps I have not given it its due. :confused3

Flights of wonder. :scared1: Most definitely not something I'll be seeing. Did I read it has been canceled or am I imagining it (e.g. wishful thinking)??

I say hurrah for recognizing you're tired and need to relax. I've seen families who didn't recognize the signs and plugged away... it always ends badly.

Your last lone Christmas cookie looks so sad.

I'm really looking forward to hearing about the Hoop De Doo and the sleigh ride!!

How thrilled your son must have been to be picked at the flights of wonder show.

Looking forward to hearing about the sleigh ride.

We were starting to tire out by this point in our trip too, so I get where you're coming from!

We've never done Hoop Dee Doo, so I'm looking forward to hearing what you guys thought of it :thumbsup2

How cool that your son got to participate in the Flights of Wonder Show!!! I bet he LOVED that!!! :goodvibes

Can't wait to hear about HDDR and the sleigh ride!!

You have me thinking about the Flights of Wonder show. Then again, it is normally down during September from what I read. :confused3 I will just file it away in the back of my mind for something to consider. :thumbsup2

This must be a fun memory for him. He looks like he's very much enjoying himself. :goodvibes

We enjoy Flights of Wonder and everything else in Animal Kingdom. I guess it just comes down to different interests, but we love that park.

Sometimes just going to the room for some hanging out time is the best thing you can do for everyone. Disney naps are good ones. ::yes::

We've never done Hoop-De-Doo, so I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures. We're thinking we'll do it in the summer of 2011, when the girls are a bit older.

I have to agree with Christine, I am just not a huge fan of AK period. I don't know, I enjoy it while I'm there but it's never a must do for me every trip.

I get really freaked out by birds so I'm glad to see your pictures and not have to see the actual show. :rotfl2:
