As there was no magic hours today we decided to have a lie in til 9. After quick shower we headed to the lounge for our breakfast three doors down from our room! There was just one couple in the lounge having breakfast. the tables were set with proper cloth and napkins and the waiter was quick to sit us down ("where ever you like") we choose a table for two (everyother day picked a bigger table - as the characters join you at the bigger tables for breakfast!). The selection of food is fantastic both a hot and cold buffet with a beautiful array of fresh fruit. On the cold buffet there were assorted meats, cheeses, pickles and tomatoes. The hot buffet had scrambled eggs, bacon, veal sausages, fried potatoe slices, potatoe and onion rosti, tomatoes. The fruit selection included rubarb compote with creme freche, fresh whole strawberries (yummy with the pancakes), fresh fruit salad and a fruit bowl with a huge assortment! There was every imaginable cereal - including the whole variety of special K bliss! There were waffles, pancakes (proper crepe ones) with maple syrup and icing sugar beside them and a chou pastry cake thing. There was a huge bread assortment and some sweet cakes including danish pastries. There was fresh sqeezed orange juice with cranberry , pineapple and grapefruit juices too (Olivia loved the way each pitcher had a glass of water beside it with the a corresponding piece of fruit in the water) or still or sparkling water. There was a huge selection of teas, coffee and chocolate. We loved the choice and freshness of it all - I wont tell you what we ate - i would be way too embarrased - suffice to say I put on pounds!
We were barely sitting when in came Goofy - dressed to the nines in his elvis costume - he spent ages with us, playing hide and seek and stealing items from our plates - he was happy to pose for photos and obliged olivia by signing her autograph book - she can be a little shy but she really enjoyed the interaction with Goofy - he is now her favorite character. After such a lovely breakfast we were ready to face the day!
First stop was the studios where we wanted to follow some fellow disboard users advice of getting to Crush for rope drop - we were almost at top of Q and were one of the first to ride! We did all of the rides and cinemagique in record time again no crowd so all walk ons with just 15 min wait for Crush and TOT. We had a funny experience on TOT - we saw a bit of a q and decided to use our VIP pass (even though Fastpass dispenser not open) - the cast member made a huge fuss of us saying oh my god we are in the company of VIPs (using a very posh over the top accent) and insisted on escorting us right to the top of the line and telling everyone we passed these are VIps - it was very funny and everyone joined in the banter including the cast member on the 'checkin desk' - it made it a memorable ride for us.
We decided to take the train to frontierland as we wanted to catch Mickeys winter wonderland show - there was hardly anyone on the train and we had a whole section to ourselves! Winter Wonderland was magical! We headed over to Woody's roundup and there was just one other family there - Olivia hopped up on bullseye for a photo - then suddenly Woody moved - I nearly had a heart attack I had thought he was a statue like bullseye - the other family were cracking up laughing as the same thing had happened to them. Olivia enjoyed some time with woody and got his autograph. We did the other rides in frontierland then went to fantasy land where we were dying to try Toad Hall - have never eaten here in all the trips we have made to DLRP! It was lovely we both had the fish and chips and they were delicious! Not much of a q and plenty of tables available. We did all of fantasy land and again all walk ons bar Peter Pan and we used our fastpass for it. We then headed for adventureland and were able to do all the rides there too (some twice!) before heading back to the hotel for afternoon tea (yes eating again!) and a warmup. We got back to the park for the parade and got a great viewing spot (thanks everyone for advice on where to stand) - lots of characters stopping to say hello to Olivia (unfortunately my camera started acting up - I think the cold affected it! - so not too many photos). The parade was fantastic, we then browsed our way down main street - love the shops here! We went into visit the dragon - we thought the castle was closed as there was hoarding around it but you could get in around the back - loved exploring it in the dark. We just had time to fit in a few fantasyland rides before it was time for Mickey's magical party. We really enjoyed this and where we stood the cast members really got our section going and we were soon dancing and clapping along.
Again we had tired legs heading back to hotel - stopped off in the lounge of the Disneyland Hotel for a coctail each (princess one for Olivia and a cosmopolitan for me - devine). There were very few people in the lounge and when characters arrived Olivia had them all to herself - she had great fun playing chase with them and Goofy was really acting up as you will see from the photos - at one stage literally diving onto the sofa beside Olivia when i was taking her photo with chip! he also ran out of a photo at the last minute and thought it was hilarious - he was chuckling away to himself - of course Olivia just lovedit!
We had booked for 8.30 but when we arrived there was a lot of people waiting it wasn't clear if they had reservations or not and it was way too cold to wait outside so i made my way to desk which seemed a little frantic - told the lady i had a reservation and was afraid I would lose my table if I got on the end of the Q - she said with a reservation you come straight in (Thank God I was brave enough to go to the top of the line!).
Once seated we had a fantastic time - this time we had loads of character interaction and there was even a burst of dancing on the counters by staff at one stage! The food was a lot better than my last time there - i had the Fantasia mushrooms yummy and the seafood pasta - again loads of seafood and yummy - Oliva had the childrens menu and felt it offered a good choice - she particularly liked the desert buffet and because she took so much and was unable to finish it i got desert too! Our vouchers did not quite cover it but it was only 20 euro extra and I did have wine so that would not have been covered anyway!
There were loads of characters and they visited the table and signed autographs and posed for photos - Hook was particularly good and very attentive to us - we also saw Minnie, Mickey, Pluto, Stitch, Robin Hood, Chip and dale, Eyore, Baloo and of course olivias favorite Goofy! It was truely a magical night and we skipped back to our hotel delighted with ourselves and full of the Disney magic! Olivia got straight into bed and was asleep within 10 minutes - I ordered a glass of wine from room service and sipped it as I relaxed in a warm radox bath! Slept like a log and set the alarm early for extra magic hours (I was not going to bother with them as the parks were so empty - but Olivia insisted! ha ha did not take much to persuade me!).
More soon - hope you all enjoy reading and hope the photos can be seen please let me know if you cant see them! Jo
