Ok I booked yesterday (7 day Sept 4). I did not get any info other than my cabin, but this was after about 6 hours. Now I see these threads about transfering res'. What exactly is this?

Im a Costco member, and did not go with them because they were more $$ than the TA I wound up using. BUT I see folks getting better deals after they booked with someone else... so it has me wondering if this is something I should try myself.

Im going to call the TA today anyway since the cabin location is not what i want (2624). my DW was upset, as I am too now to think aout it.

So do I need to wait until I get info in the mail prior to trying to get better deal from Costco? Or is this something that may not be worth it?

You do not need to wait untill you get anything in the mail first. If you can find a better deal go for it! Its very simple to do, you just give your new TA your ressie number and they will handle all of it.

If you booked through another travel agent at a certain price, I don't think that you can transfer that reservation to Costco. You would have to see what Costco's price is and if it's better, then cancel your current reservation and book a new one with Costco. My understanding is that travel agents will not poach reservations from one another. In any case, the reservation that you currently hold is "owned" by the TA that you booked with. They would have to consent to transfer it to another agent, which they are unlikely to do, since it means that they'll lose their commission.

Those that transferred reservations to Costco, or other agencies, have booked directly with DCL, I believe.

I believe Lloyd is correct.....TA's can be touchy when someone wants to take a booking away from them...rightfully so...it's their livelihood you are taking away from them.

I know I only moved my ressie to Costco because I had booked directly with DCL and Costco beat DCL's price by $449.00.

You said Costco already came in higher with their quote so I doubt you would get it any lower with Costco.

Thank you both. Thats what I thought about using one TA then going to another. I was just wondering since I seen it more and more.
