Hitting the Disney trifecta! a Nov 2013 PTR-and then some!(2/21-Trip #3 return!)

Only eight more days to go, I figure I better get this going. I just ripped the calendar and now can look at the days to come.

So November 15th is our second MK day and our first "repeat" park (not counting a few hours in Epcot the night before). The day is somewhat up in the air. We are hoping for a second day of DIS meet between Tinker326's family and ours. The exact details of where and when we meet will be worked out the night before. (Where's the spreadsheet - ARGH!)

A few things of note today.

1) My experience with MK on a Friday before a Party (there's a MVMCP tonight) during slow season is that the park is INCREDIBLY uncrowded in the morning. In fact the least crowded I've EVER seen MK was in this exact scenario.

2) Peter Pan's Flight is scheduled to re-open from a 7 week refurb on November 14th. This will be a VERY popular destination today. We already have a FP+ booked for later in the day, but my preference would be to hit this ride at rope drop. Other than that, we should be pretty flexible about what we ride, because I expect to have gotten most everything done on the 11th.

3) We have a FP+ also for Enchanted Tales with Belle, at the same time as Tinker326's family. Should be fun doing this with fellow DISers.

4) DD has a BBB appointment at the castle at 1 PM. She's 10 years old, but has never wanted to do BBB before. (She's never been a "dress up" girl.) She actually keeps waffling on whether to do it. We've been encouraging it, and at the moment she's on the yes side. She's been told she can't say "NO" at the last minute, as they will charge us to cancel.

5) The other FP+ we have booked is to meet Rapunzel at the new Fairy Tale Hall. Again, DD is not big into character meets, but she has been saying she wants to meet Rapunzel, so we'll see...it is possible we won't do this one.

6) We have a 6:55 PM ADR dinner @ O'hana. With the park closing at 7 PM for another MVMCP, we would need to be out by then anyways. Believe it or not in ten trips to WDW, we've not only never been to O'hana, we've actually never stepped foot on the grounds of the Poly!

Typing this got me thinking what resorts have we never set foot in...and the only ones I can list are the All-Stars, Art of Animation (we haven't been there since it opened), Coronado Springs, Old Key West, and the Poly! We've only STAYED at 4 of them, but we've visited all the others at least once.

Anyways, O'hana has always been on my list to do, but keeps sliding off because I have heard such mixed reviews of it. I've heard one key is getting seated in the main dining room (especially if you have kids). But even so, it's crowded, noisy and they really push you through, which aren't exactly high appeal pieces. However, I am all about trying new things every trip, and it's high time we tried this one!

After O'hana, we'll be heading back to the resort. WE have an extra long day planned for day 8!

Sounds like a good MK day. Here's hoping that DD will want to do BBB. I'd love to see the pictures.

With just 5 days to go I better get cracking on wrapping up the trip details.

Today is our return to Animal Kingdom after the first day. The plan here is to head for the safari first thing, and then probably out to Pangani Forest trail and the Conservation Station.

We have tentative plans to again meet up with TInker326 and her family for part of the day, at least some time at the boneyard and lunch at Flame Tree BBQ, though apparently our daughters were talking on Skype and made plans for the day as well, so maybe they have other plans.:lmao: We all have FP+ for the 2:30 PM Festival of the Lion King show.

We need to be out of the park no later than 4 PM, as we have evening plans. We are putting DD in the kids club and Beach Club, and then we have a dinner ADR at Yatchsman, just DW and myself@ 6 PM. We are then hoping to head over to Jellyroll's, and convince some of our fellow ABDers from last June to meet us out there. Probably will stay no later than 10 PM, because need to go pick up DD and get home before it too, too late! (We don't need to make rope drop on Sunday, but still don't want to lose too much sleep.)

In preparation news - we are starting to really get the packing going at home. We basically have two clothing suitcases (one big one small) and then a pair of nested suitcases (that go down as two but come back as one) that we bring some food and other miscellaneous stuff. DW plans out her clothes for each park day. I myself just pile in all the Disney wear. My only "planned" shirt is for DHS day I want to wear my new "Ski Hoth" shirt, I figure it's the perfect shirt to wear on Star Tours!

Actually, the way things worked out at work I have two things winding down this week, and no immediacy to start something new.before I need. I might end up sort of bored by Friday - a true rarity in my job. These last few days you just want everything to get wrapped up and go...

Oh I :lovestruc the Poly Resort! It is, my favorite.... We got lucky to stay there when my cousin used to work on Disney property and got us cast member rates. I was an airline brat growing up (my mom worked for United) and we traveled everywhere back then because my mom LOVED to travel. Hawaii was her favorite and we went there once a year till I was about 12. This resort conjures up old memories of my 'old' Hawaii....

(Side note- we hope to head back to Hawaii in 2015. And I am hoping to squeeze, somehow, a short stay at Aulani in there!!)

That was a long side tangent. Ok.

Yes, I see your last three days of plans involve me a lot! And for the record ,the girls were planning BOTH Friday and Saturday out together. I believe Pirates is on the agenda for Friday followed by some Jungle Cruisin & then Small World. Maybe Splash- but see, A & B really like the ride and all, but really just don't like that drop. They both wish that drop wasn't there...(writing it like they were saying it!) :)

GOsh they were funny to listen to.

I was just thinking... in one week I'll be in Disney. And in two weeks- I'll still be in Disney. Ahh, Friday get here quick!!

Enjoy the wind down at work, Pete. It is a true rarity these days.

Happy packing. Sounds like the girls are all set for their days at WDW. Now.....for the parents to go along with their plans!

Hope you enjoy Date night with DW. :thumbsup2

:lmao: We definitely can flex our plans for the girls! Not sure if I can give up control for that long though. :faint:

As I said, all I care about is Peter Pan - we will probably have done most everything on Monday once. If B can get A on Splash Mountain, it'll be more than I usually can!

I know A has been chatting mostly with B, but I've also told her that she needs to include the other two if they want to play too!

How exciting, so close to leaving now! :cool1: I am following your PTR/TR closely since we plan on going there about the same time of year, but not until 2015. Want to have plenty of time to save, pay off things and most importantly..PLAN! Can't wait to follow along with your actual TR! :beach:

Thanks for joining in. Just 3 more days!

Well, I figured I better wrap this up. 48 hours from when I'm typing this we will hopefully be on the ground in Orlando.

So, our last two days involve Sunday @ Epcot. Again, the further I get into a trip, the less concrete my plans are. I'm leaning towards right now this being a bit of a "sleep-in" day. Usually by Day 9 we are pretty tired, and I'm thinking maybe we spend the morning at the resort, do some preliminary packing.

We then head to Epcot. We have a noon-ish FP+ for Soarin' and the 3 PM for Test Track. We will probably be spending much of the day in Future World, hitting the things we didn't get to yet.

We have dinner at Tutto Italia. Another new restaurant for us. (5 of the 8 TS restaurants on this trip are new to us.) We also have a FP+ for Illuminations, but we may or may not stay long enough for that, as we will hopefully have already done it on Thursday.

It's also because the next morning (our last day) we have an Early (8:35 AM) ADR for Crystal palace. We plan on getting there slightly early as well, and after park opening might hit a ride or two. We'll then come back to the hotel, check out and put our bags in storage, and then hang by the pool for the next few hours. We did this on the last trip, and it was a great way to end the trip.

And that's it...those are our plans. All that's left is too...well, implement them!!

But that is NOT the end of this PTR - It IS a Disney TRIFECTA after all. Just 3 months until our cruise on the Wonder!

Have a great time, Pete.

Catch you when you get back. Say hello to DW and DD for me.

Hey Everyone! We are back from our trip! I haven't started the trip report yet as I am still getting things organized. I am writing up the notes on the total trip so that I can keep things straight. Then I have to upload the pictures.

Overall, the trip was pretty good, but not quite a home run. We had a great time meeting new and old friends and the crowds were for the . The weather was not all that great - one of the poorer ones in memory - but not horrible either. Lots of problems with our MBs, but that seems like par for the course, and another rather wasted hard ticket event has me swearing off those forever - though this time I do not blame the event.

I also am starting to work on details for the third part of the Trifecta. With our 75 day final payment window a mere 11 days away I need to get all my ducks in a row.

I hope to get a TR started in the next week or so. I will post the link here when ready. Hopefully some of you will continue to follow along!

Welcome back Pete.

Sounds like you got the Tragic Band version of the rollout and a few other hiccups in the trip.

Looking forward to the TR and part 3 of the Trifecta..

Well, as you may have noticed, there have been no real updates on trip #3, the Disney Cruise.

This isn't because it's been canceled, it's still very much happening. There's really two main reasons.

1) There doesn't seem to be much to update about
2) I am still finding myself not all that excited about the trip.

As for #1, well I'll give you a few updates:

We are booked to fly out on Saturday, the 15th, to Fort Lauderdale. We have two rooms at the nearby Rodeway Inn and Suites. We stay overnight here, and then have arranged for a shuttle to pick us up from the hotel the next day to take us to the Port of Miami.

Our cruise goes for six days / five nights. The second night we were able to book a Table for 4 at Palo.

The third day is in Cozumel. We have booked one of the Dolphin Encounter experiences as our excursion. It was funny that we were not planning on booking the same excursion as our friends. However, when we talked about it, it turned out we all wanted the same one. The kids don't know about this, so it will be a surprise.

On Friday - we will deboard in the AM and return to our hotel. They have a day rate where we can get a room for the day. Our flight leaves at 5 PM - so we will likely have 4-5 hours at the hotel before transferring to the airport. We fly home Friday night. Saturday we will be snow skiing!

As far as #2 - a part of me is really looking forward to this trip, looking forward to a new experience, seeing what a Disney cruise is like, hanging with some good friends.

The other part of me thinks that boats sink and suck you down with them. And if not they are filled with germs that get everyone sick (as is DisneyWorld - so don't get me started there).

What's funny is that I don't feel that way at ALL about planes. I have no stress over flying. But the idea of cruising for me is probably similar to someone that has a mild fear of flying. Not that I can't do it, just don't really want to.

Anyways, I don't think I can genuinely get 100% excited about this trip. The best way to explain it is it feels to me more like a trip to visit relatives that you HAVE to do but don't want to. Looking forward to the time off, but not exactly to the trip itself. :faint:

Anyways, thanks for listening. I will probably post the occasional updates here when I can (as in "Made it home alive!"). However, I am about 1/2 way through the TR for the LAST trip, so don't expect this TR to start too soon...

I think you'll be fine the minute you're on the plane and heading out on this vacay #3. :goodvibes
