hit by a semi today...don't anyone ever nag me about my SUV!!!

I'm so glad you and your kids are ok! I was in my smaller suv a few years ago when I was hit by an Expedition with my kids in it, so scary! The truckers insurance should cover the rental and it should be something as close to your vehicle as possible, it doesn't matter what you have for insurance at all. I hope you get it all worked out. I know it took me several days to shake that just had an accident feel!

Thank goodness you are ok. I work in insurance defense, and of course the trucking company should pay for all of your damages, a comparable rental car, and throw some in for the depreciation to your vehicle. That is reasonable to an insurance company.

I've seen enough accident reports, pictures, etc. to feel very comfortable about driving a full sized pickup truck and having my son drive one also.

Glad to hear that no one was hurt!!! I am sure though it must be extremely scary though! Hope all goes well!

AMEN!!! I drive a Yukon! We seem to have a "cut thru HWY" for semi's here. They surround you by the dozens. It's creepy.
Glad to hear you are OK!

I'm glad nobody was hurt, that was a close one!

I agree with you, I love my SUV and always feel safer in it as opposed to my DH's Saturn, especially in 3 or more lanes of traffic!

Glad you're ok. I too am glad to drive an SUV. After driving something big I always feel like I have target signs painted on the car when I drive my mom's Toyota Avalon.
Hope everything with insurance goes as smoothly as that stuff can. Or at least more smoothly than my own insurance battle is going.

Glad to hear you and your family are okay!!

I had a similiar incident with a semi several years ago....'cept I was driving a neon. Totalled the right side of the car!

I hope the dust settles though, and all the insurance type stuff gets taken care of quick. Wrecks can be a pain!

Thank God you are all OK. Those semis are so scary, I can't imagine what it's like to be hit by one.

Thanks for all the support. I really appreciate it.
I sure hope the trucker's insurance is generous about rentals, etc. I don't want to have to fight that battle with my own company--$30 a day won't get much for a family with 3 kids. I am just going to lay low with DH's truck until I hear from the adjuster about what the other guy's adjuster says, etc. etc. As soon as the insurance approves a minivan or SUV rental I'll be in one.
My back is stiffening up and I'm just hoping and praying it's stress and nothing serious. I know that sometimes the adrenaline from a wreck can mask injuries. Both kid say they have no aches, pains, etc. so I'm thankful there, but I'll have to see how I feel in the AM. The hot tub helped some but now it's creeping back.
Thanks again everyone. Be careful out there!

Glad to hear that you are ok. That must of been really scary. I was parked at my uncle's house when he banged my car. My daughter and I were in it and I had gotten an estimate today and it will cost $1520.00.

Glad to hear that nobody was hurt but it does sound scary, SUV or not.
