You still will not be able to get the Ding fares if you don't have Ding downloaded to your PC.:sad2:
This is not true. It is doable, but not easy. I can view the Dings on my cell phone which doesn't have a Ding compatible version.

Before you ask, here is how I have done it. Again, its not easy, but it does allow me to track the Dings when I only have my phone. If you have an internet ready smartphone (I have the Q), you can book them from your phone as well, but I would rather run home or borrow a computer. I have been know to stop in a foreign town to visit the library just to check a ding because they had free internet access..

Somewhere in the first few post, there is a link to flyertalk's southwest thread. It describes how to create a backdoor for you ding.

Once you have created your backdoor, that backdoor will give you the URL for the upcoming DING and tell you when it becomes available, when it will expire. It does not tell you what cities, you have to wait until the actual DING is released and then got to that URL listed in the backdoor.

Next, I have created a "dummy" bookmark on my phone's internet browser. From the backdoor Ding, I take the upcoming Ding's ID nubmer and type it into my dummy URL and then I can view the Ding on my phone.

Again, not easy, but for us addicks, it is better than a support group. (actually, this thread is my support group:grouphug: ). You understand. Happy Dinging.

:scared1: :scared1:  Still nothing this morning  :scared1: :scared1:
I gaveup andbookedmy parents flights yesterday from BWI to MCO. $111 down and $49 back. I figure I am not going to do better than $49 but was hoping for a better price going down. So I will hopefullyget a Ding for that and than use that credit against our tickets. But the Long Island flights are INSANE ! It will cost us $1027 RT if I book today. I would drive instead !
Come on Ding ! Give us a break !!!:santa:

I just subscribed to DING after reading parts of this thread.

Now... what?
I just click on the icon each day and check for fares? If I see a good one and don't grab it at that minute, will it be gone later? (I teach; I'm normally online at 5:30 am and then again when my kids are in bed.)

Can someone do a quick DING for Dummies lesson?

Hello

Do you see in your lower right hand corner where your Southwest icon is now? Well, when there is a Ding!, there wil be a tiny, tiny piece of mail on it and you will also hear a Ding! sound if your sound is on. You just click on that and a small window will come up. It will have a cute phrase and will also tell you when it is good until. Keep in mind that it is Central time. Click on this and there will be what is available. You can also "update your registry" and put only the airports you are looking for. Hope this helps...

I would suggest that you do not wait. If you see what you need then grab it. Just because they have a Ding fare does not gaurantee that the seats will be available. Or if they are available at say 12noon that they will still be available at 5:30 pm. Also keep in mind that you do not get a refund. You get a Southwest credit for another reservation.:thumbsup2

After having at least one ding a day for months and months, there was no ding yesterday or this morning. It figures, since I'm wanting to book a last minute trip...to just about anywhere cheap!

I hope this means they are getting ready to extend the Dings past Nov 15. I would love to sneak an early December trip down, but it would have to be a good Ding rate or the trip will not happen. Come on December, give us something today!

Mmmm... early December dings. That's what Im waiting for too! Maybe if we chant together Boswellnakia, "Oh great Ding King, just one more--trip, (this year) please?"

BTW- I love this thread- I am soooooo glad you started it- Thank you!
