I have been looking around for this info and haven't found it listed anywhere. Just curious about the on-property resorts. I understand OKW is being finished up now. And from reading different threads, it sounds like BWV was done prior to that. And of course AKV and BLT are new enough that they haven't needed to be done yet. Also, it doesn't appear that anything has been done to SSR yet except maybe a soft refurb? (Correct me if I'm wrong) So that leaves BCV and VWL. Anybody know the last refurb dates on the DVC units? Any idea which one will be next?

Also, I have read comments that DVC units are not refurb'd as often as CRO rooms. Has anyone seen a pattern of how long they usually wait in between refurb projects?

The issue isn't so much the frequency of updates is the degree to which rooms change.

Disney obviously has a vested interest in keeping their cash rooms in line with modern sensibilities. It's much harder to ask $500 per night for a room when you have tube TVs, hard mattresses, linoleum countertops, old leaky shower heads, etc.

The other force at work is the reality that DVC members are the ones who PAY for refurbishments. Saratoga Springs--which began opening in 2004--is the one resort which most got caught in the middle of a sort of renaissance in hotel design. They did put granite countertops at SSR but the TVs are older ones and some of the other furnishings & fixtures are not quote haute couture.

The 2009 refurb at the BoardWalk and the current refurb at Old Key West are the most significant which have ever occurred. In both cases, some aspects of rooms are gutted down to the drywall and updated--new flooring, new wallcoverings, some new furniture, new countertops, etc.

I'm not aware of any other resorts which have experienced that sort of refurbishment.

But there have been many occasions when resorts received "soft goods" refurbishments where things like bed linens and drapes were updated. Flat panel TVs have been added to most resorts--SSR is getting them this year. And ALL rooms get new carpet, new wallpaper and paint, new appliances and other updates as needed.

If you look over the history of Walt Disney World, Disney has probably updated the decor at resorts like the Contemporary and Poly every 10-15 years. Don't expect DVC villas to change their look every 10 years. But in general you should still expect to get a well-maintained room.
