Hey guys!

I have a group of friends (approx. 8, as of now) interested in going to Disney sometime in the fall (Oct- Dec.), and we're trying to figure out what our best resort options are. A few of us have AP passes...

If you've gone in the fall, what was you AP rate? We just want to have a ballpark so that we can start budgeting (and saving) up!

Thanks a bunch!

I'm not sure what the rates were, but I'm traveling in September.

What I did was to book what I could afford. I managed to get a AAA rate, and so I booked that, and budgeted accordingly. If and/or when AP rates are released, I'll either be able to upgrade, or have lots more money for souvenirs.

That would be my advice. Book what you can afford now, budget for that, and then upgrade when and/or if AP rates come out! :)

Hey SnackyStacky!

Thanks for your advice! We've already decided to book a split stay between a Disney Deluxe Resort (prob. AKL or YC) and the Swan/Dolphin, regardless of rates (same strategy for my upcoming trip). Good strategy particularly because you are not guaranteed AP rates even if they come out.

But it also doesn't hurt to know the historic rates for a certain time period :), particularly if you're thinking about upgrading, etc. Since we're 8 people across the United States, we won't be able to make those split second decisions when AP rates come out-- we kind of have to game it a bit and see if people are comfortable with rates as they have been. If, for example, concierge has been X with an AP, it might just not be an option even if we could upgrade at the time the APs come out.

Since we're using a travel agency, we'd like to be able to tell the travel agent that we'd be willing to upgrade to concierge, for example, or to move from one resort to the other, if the AP rates are in the historic range without having to get a vote on it, particularly since there's up to a six hour difference between us. Also, some of our more prudent budgeters can start saving up for a worst (or best) case scenario ;)

I expect Mousesavers and AllEars net should have that info. The fall has historically been a slow time for Disney hotels; last year was different with their 7 for 4 deal (which we eagerly ate up: booked in June for October @AKL), with much less in the way of AP discounts from what I understand.

Unfortunately, mousesavers doesn't publish what the old rates were, just when they were released, who was eligible for them, and when they were valid.

Caribbeanme, I know you're looking for a specific rate so you can budget, and I hope you get it! :) I just hate being able not to help!

The thing about the advice I gave you is that if you book the cheapest view available at a deluxe, when and/or if those AP rates come out, no matter what you want to upgrade to (with the exception of suites, and possibly concierge...) it'll be cheaper than whatever you've already booked.

Good luck, and I hope someone can help you with those rates you're looking for! :)

Oh - and one more thing - if you're using a travel agent, I would HIGHLY reccomend a Disney travel specialist, such as Dreams Unlimited, or Small World vacations. These folks specialize in Disney travel and will watch for those discount codes FOR you, and they don't charge anything extra.

Hey all!

Mousesavers didn't have 'em, and neither did All Ears... Snacky Stacky and I are on the same wavelength. :) If we can't get historical AP rates we may just have a standing order to upgrade to the next view up, and then see if we can get proxy votes going (i.e., authorize a few people to vote in the interests of all...) if there are concierge opportunities.

I'm using Dreams Unlimited for my early summer trip, and Carole has been so helpful...she's put up with my date changes and hotel changes, since we're splitting a stay btw WL and the YC. If she isn't tired of me yet :), she may help us with this trip as well.

Making up for lost time (last Disney trip 13 yrs ago),
