Hi

We have twin boys who are aged 2 and half. We wanted to know how much it was to hire a double buggy for DLP. We are going camping at Jablines and our baggy would take up needed space.

Has anyone hired them?

Thanks

I'm not sure about price or availability of a double buggy. But whatever you do, I recommend renting -- even two single buggies -- and keep your receipt. Buggies are notorious for being taken when unattended at DLP. You do not want to lose your own expensive buggy.

Our rental buggy was taken three times before lunch. Keep your receipt, and they will just issue you another one.

I don't know if DLP has done anything to curb buggy theft.

Hi

Thats bad. We have left our own Maclaren Double twin buggy in WDW lots of times and its been ok. The rented ones never went missing. How can I say this without offending people. Its probably the clientale the DLP brings in compared to WDW. Thats really bad. We will hire one and hope for the best. :guilty:

hi :wave2:

Firstly I would recommend that you could maybe take a bike lock for the buggy so you don't have to walk across main street to replace it if it gets taken. it is annoying when your rented buggy is taken, it has happened to us. :sad1:

Also I would also recommend that you try not to compare DLP to WDW to much though I know it is probably be hard. DLP is not WDW and if you compare all the negative things of DLP to WDW than you will maybe not enjoy your trip as much as you can. There is some things at DLP that I have heard people say "that would never happen at wdw" such as lack of queues, smoking in lines, people shoving to get a good spots. They is also lots of good things about DLP that are just as good as wdw or in some cases better.

Both parks have a lot to offer and I hope you enjoy your trip :)

I will ingnore the "Its probably the clientale the DLP brings in compared to WDW" as I am sure you did not mean it the way it sounds ;)

Hi All,

I'm really surprised to hear that buggies have gone missing in DLP, I've taken my own for the last 4 years and always leave it outside rides (mostly laden with bags and coats) without any problems at all.

It's a bit low to pinch a kids buggy if you ask me!

Cheers

I think the rented ones are more likely to go missing than if you take your own, people probably don't class it as stealing so they don't think it so bad. its probably just desperate parents who have underestimated there child's walking stamina.

yes me too.. DD really did not understand that people would just take something.

Not in March they hadn't :furious:
I have to admit I got extremely teed off with it, I'd suggest taking a small bike chain if you're hiring a buggy.
If you are taking your own I can't imagine it would get taken, I mean they wouldn't - would they ?

By the way we were told ours had probably been moved by the CM's tidying up when we came out after the Lion King show - unfortunatley nobody could tell us where it might have been tidied up to :confused3

Oooops I did not mean it offensively about clientale, but reading it back it sounds damn right rude. I apologise for that. :bitelip:

I really cant wait to go and I was really shocked to hear it. I just could not understand it and was wondering if they had organised buggy crime :lmao:

Thanks for the info. I wonder how much they are?

I didn't think you meant the way it sounded. :)

I am going next month so I will pop in on my way pass and check, we hired a single one though I can not remeber how much they cost.

i know the single ones are E6.50 for the day and they do have the handy `buggy board` type thing for older ones to stand on the back but if yours ares like mine were at thatb age still wanting a nap then you would be best to take your own,i know we had our rented buggy takena few times in march but then before going i had read a few times in various reviews of dlp that they had buggies you could use and you just took one if you saw one ,in actual fact you hire it for the day with a thing on the back saying which family is hiring it ,maybe it used to be a free for all i don`t know but i think you`de be better off with your own double buggy ,maybe you could get one of the lightweight umbrella fold ones that don`t really take up much room?
you`ll have a fab time though!!

In all the times we have been to DLP we have never had a problem, even with expensive system buggy.

I'd happily advise anyone who has the space and inclination to feel confident in taking there own buggy.
Often CM's will move strollers/buggy's if they cause obstructions :)

We found that by tieing a scarf or leaving a bag on the buggy it stayed put.

Going back to your original question though I don't think I've ever see a hire double one.

The single ones in March were about 6euros 50cents/day to hire (about £4.00) or there is a means of hiring them for a longer time to allow you to take them out of the parks and back to your hotel, but you have to pay a deposit on the buggy, unfortunately during our stay there was never a CM present who spoke good English and so we couldn't ascertain whether you got the deposit back, or whether you were paying up front for the days you wanted or whether you still needed to pay a daily charge. :confused3

This is a good point to mention, we had my 3year old niece with us and the buggy was useful for inside the parks, my 7 year old even cadged a few lifts on the back, but you can't take them out of the parks, you can't even take them from the Disney park into the Studios, or vice versa, so if you're park hopping you get a voucher to rehire that day in the other park after returning the one you have to the park you hired it from.

Also you can't take them into the Village so if you're hoping to spend some time in there again you might need your own.

Hope this helps.

Hi

All good points. Its the space problem as we are camping. With all the other expenses in tow we cant really afford to start paying for roof boxes as it turns a cheap holiday to a more expensive holiday. I will have to seriosly think about this one. The boys are not that great on hand.

Thanks for the advice. Its certainly made me think again.

:thanks:

What about cheap umbrella buggies from ebay that will not take up to much space but give you a way of controlling the boys :)

Hi

We already have the umbrella style buggy. We have a passat. Last week we went camping in Newquay and we struggled with boot space. The kids had so much in front of them. This time we will be getting a Sunncamp tent and it will be bigger. The other one was too small and broke on the last day.

I think when we get the new tent we will have to see if we can fit it all in. We wont be getting the tent until July.

Thanks for your advice. I really appreciate it.

:thumbsup2

have you thought about hiring 2 buggies from dlp? i know this double the expense but it def would save on space? worth a thought anyhow!
