We have been going since our youngest was 16 months and oldest was 5. They both love it! They love to crab fish -- both for the crabs out of the water as well as the little fiddler crabs which are around when the tide is out. They love the pool. They love riding bikes around the area. They love the beach. We love to walk over to Shelter Cove and hear Shannon Tanner's show.
We always do the beach combing trip. The last couple of years we've done the shark fishing as well. Both are arranged directly through the resort and done by Low Country Nature Tours. Well worth the money we spend on both of those outings.
The one thing we don't do a lot of is eating out -- we find it's easier to cook in the villa. We bring our crock pot, put something into it in the morning and by the time it's dinner time, it's ready. Couldn't be easier.
It's much more relaxing than a trip to WDW will ever be for us. It's our annual rest and relaxation trip that we look forward to doing for many years to come. We've always gone in July (just a couple weeks and we'll be there

) but next year, we're going to try going in March during spring break.
We fly into Savannah. It's only about a 45-60 minute drive to Hilton Head from there. Many years we drove as well and while it's not a bad drive, it just gets long allowing for 2 days travel time to get there and then another 2 days to get back.
