Hello,

I am making my first trip to Hilton Head Resort (my second DVC trip overall) and I was wondering if anyone has advice on the best building to stay in or request. I have three children 6, 4 and 1. Also is there a best time of year to go (I was thinking mid-July). Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks

Since no one has responded to your post, I thought I would give it a go!

We've only stayed at HH once but are looking forward to our visit in November. Anyway, I don't think there is a bad building to stay at because the resort is pretty compact. I think you should consider what you are most interested in being closest to and request a building accordingly. We wanted a non-smoking marsh view on the first floor (you will have to navigate one flight of stairs for a "first floor" unit and of course two flights of stairs for a "second floor" unit). A very nice CM put us in building 31. She said she always puts her mother in that building. It's a little bit aways from the hustle and bustle but you are a short walk to the pool, activities center, campfire, fishing pier and snack bar. I think we timed it to be about 2 or 3 minute walk. You are a little further from the main lodge where you check in and where Big Murgy's Den is located so if that is important to you and your family I'd request a building near the lodge.

The resort has mostly 2 bedroom units and you didn't say what type of villa you had reserved but I hope this helps. We are again hoping for building 31 but want to be near my family who will be staying in a studio so that may affect where we are assigned. If you have any other questions about Hilton Head, don't hesitate to ask. We love it there!

Thanks,

we have as of now not book a room yet. We are planning on a mid-july visit have you stayed in the summer and if so is it much to hot or okay?

Mid-July is a busy time at HH. The weather is hot, but the resort is very comfortable. There are lots of activities for all ages available.

There are 3 available views- Marsh View, with a look over Broad Creek. We have seen dolphin and otters from our room in the marsh- Pool View, with a balcony over the main pool- and Island View, with a wooded landscape.( Some of these views also look out towards other buildings.)

There are fireworks every Tuesday evening thru much of June, July and Aug.

The resort does fill quickly over the summer. You should plan to make your reservations as soon as possible as it has become a popular DVC member destination.

Enjoy!

 We just came back from HH last week, we were in 1912 (1 bdrm). We liked it alot because it was close to the parking lot and a 2 minute walk to the pool. There were too many mosquitos down by the pool area, so i'm glad we weren't in those buildings. Also our deck was more secluded than some of the other
