Has anyone been to Hilton Head over Thanksgiving or around Christmas/New Year's? We're thinking of possibly using some points over one of those holidays. What is there to do in the area when it is not beach season?

We'll have our 2 boys -- 16 and 12.

Thanks.

We have spent Christmas with family several years. Usually the weather is mild and there are even kids swimming. Lots of long bike rides to the beach house and walks around the marina are usually on our to-do list. We've went on the dolphin sightseeing tour, trips to the movies, and shopping at the outlet malls. The adults enjoy nice long naps and time to read books. Not sure if your 12 year old will still participate, but the "kids club" has great activities. The teenagers are usually not as excited about the nice peaceful resort but always find something to do. Our most favorite evenings are ordering take-out and going to the Beach House and watching TV while enjoying the meal with our family (it's usually pretty deserted during Christmas). My family usually travels at Christmas (instead of exchanging gifts). My sister is a DVC member and we love it when she books Hilton Head for our holiday!

We've spent the last 6 Thanksgivings at HHI. and I know at least one DISer who's been going longer. The resort has some great activities, like family flag football on Thanksgiving afternoon; the making of team tee-shirts; children's activities making Thanksgiving centerpieces. Additionally, the last few years, the resort is already decorated for Christmas at Thanksgiving. And if you're a runner- there's a 5K Thanksgiving morning with free beer afterwards. Some years you're lucky enough that it's still beach weather, some years NOT! But we're always so happy spending Thanksgiving at HHI.
