Looking to stop at Hilton Head for a few days before heading down to Disney. Anyplace that would be fun for the kids...on a budget of course :thumbsup2

I've only stayed at the DVC resort in Hilton Head, but you can't get any better of a place for kids on the island than DVC.
Ok, this advice was useless, because it is probably not in the budget you have in mind, but maybe you can chek out the rates for studio accomodations anyway, it really is a great resort for the kids:thumbsup2

Last year we rented a two bedroom villa at the Hilton Head Resort. It is an older resort, but has a couple outdoor pools as well as an indoor one (which we surprisingly used because it was so hot outside). It has its own private boardwalk with a golf cart beach shuttle. There is also a beach bar at the end of the boardwalk. The beach is gorgeous and not crowded at all here.

They also have a little store where you can also rent bikes. We did this and rode all over the place.

It is pretty much the most affordable resort I have found on Hilton Head and I would stay there again.

We rented through vrbo.com.

This year we are staying in Palmetto Dunes. But since you mentioned budget, I thought of this.

Have a great trip,

Waterside by Spinnaker is a good timeshare that you can rent that is close to the beach.

Players Club isn't too expensive and close walk to the beach too, but doesn't have any activities that I know of.

We stay at the Marriott Grande Ocean, which is awesome for families, but it's not cheap if you aren't an owner. It can be reserved like a hotel room, if there is availability. Also Marriott Monarch (in Sea Pines) is a good (but not inexpensive) choice.

A couple of the chain hotels have large resort hotels right on the beach that are worth looking into (Westin, Hilton, Hilton Head Resort come to mind).

If you are looking to do HHI on a budget, don';t stay at one of the hotels along the beach, rent a villa through one of the numerous rental agencies IE Sea Pines, Resort Quest, etc. Those are 2 that we have used every year and never hd a problem. If you rent a villa you then have your own kitchen so that you can do breakfast, lunch and even dinner in house. Hotels don't let you have that option. If you decide to go, you will love it, absolutely beautiful but then I have a biased opinion on the place!

We stayed at the South Beach inn one time and the kids had a blast. It's super affordable and right in the heart of the South Beach Marina in Sea Pines.
