Any info on Hilton Head in mid September, othr than possibility of a hurricane, would be greatly appreciated. Restaurants, golf, things to do etc. thanks

I recommend eavesdropping on this TUG thread for restaurants:

Marty's HHI Restaurant Thread [Ongoing] | Page 21 | Timeshare Users Group Online Discussion Forums (tugbbs.com)

That page has some pictures from the Santa Fe Cafe which is very close to the DVC resort. It is on my list of favorites as well.

Dinner Menu - Santa Fe Cafe (santafehhi.com)

There are a lot of great restaurants on the island to sample - Kenny B's for New Orleans style food , the Sea Shack for casual seafood, Palmetto Bay Sunrise Cafe for breakfast, Frankie Bones for lobster mac and cheese, Lowcountry Backyard for shrimp and grits, One Hot Mamas for BBQ... I couldn't list them all but that thread is a great reference to get some ideas.

I'm not a big golfer but the beach is obviously popular. Day trips to Savannah Ga are popular. The Harbour Town lighthouse. Dolphin cruises. Depends on what you like...

Work on Hilton Head, live nearby. Gorgeous time of year (aside from hurricane threat). Should have full access to all services, amenities, etc., and everything is less crowded (school starts in August in the South).
