We are leaving for HHI in 8 days. I'm wanting to try some new restaurants this time. We are definitely going to Steamer Seafood (since we are WKU graduates) and One Hot Mamma's (probably to go).

Here are some of our other considerations:
Dye's Gullah Fixins (Does the lunch buffet come with non-seafood items?)
Alligator Grille
Skull Creek Boathouse
Red Fish
Frankie Bones
Tapas Restaurant (really interested in info on this one)

Which ones would you pick?

Skull Creek Boathouse was fantastic we ate there twice it was so good! The Ceviche was the best I have ever had. Booked again for next August and can't wait to go back!

Alligator Grille is good and has a gift certificate on restaurant.com right now. The code to get it for 80% off is FALL. I got the email about the code last night and bought one for AG right away!

Lurking here to get some ideas. DW and I are going Oct 25-29 for the first time. Anyone tried Robert Irvine's restaurant "eat!"?

I was wondering about "Eat" also, since I'm a fan of Robert Irvine on TV.

We shall see. We like watching his show on TV. We also added Alligator Grille to our list of places to eat. Don't know if it is any good or not but we got a $50 coupon from restaurant.com for $4 so we'll have to try it. Only catch is the food total must equal or exceed $100. Looking at the menu, I think we can hit $75 without a problem so some other guest might get their entree paid for that night in order to add up to $100 and then take advantage of the $50 coupon! Anyone going the last week of October? ;)

I had noticed that Alligator Grille has a coupon on restaurant.com. I think I will use the 80% discount and get the $50 coupon. I know my kids would eat $100 just in sushi! Spending that much for my family of 4 won't be a problem.

Don't forget Guisseppe's for a quick pizza.

Red fish has early bird specials.

Guisseppe's is always our first meal on the island. We check in to the resort, head to Guisseppe's to eat, then pick up our groceries at Piggly Wiggly. I think what we may try this time is order our pizzas, shop for groceries, then take the pizzas back to the resort to eat.

Anybody have any info on the other restaurants?

We are in HHI right now. We ate at Skull Creek and it was a great seafood dinner and beautiful patio. Also ate at lowcountry backyard and that was like eating at a family members home. Awesome southern food. One hot mamas had good bbq we tried it for lunch.

Leaving in a little over 30 hours! Thanks for all the advice.

After looking at the menus of some of the suggestions, I found I was not impressed with a Lowcountry Backyard (DH likes a good steak). Roastfish and Cornbread looks to be all seafood (DH is allergic). We don't do breakfast or brunches. We are definitely going to eat at Skull Creek Boathouse, and I bought the coupon for Alligator Grille.

So here's the full list:
Guisseppi's
Steamer Seafood (even though DH is allergic to seafood, there are many land options)
Skull Creek Boathouse
Kingfisher
One Hot Mamma's (for lunch take-out)
Alligator Grille

and I'm still trying to decide on Dye's Gullah Fixin's for a lunch buffet. I'm just concerned that it's like Roastfish and Cornbread and has only seafood. I guess I will call and see.

I'm so looking forward to some great meals next week!

We were in Hilton Head in July. Our best meal was dinner at Robert Irvine's eat!. On Tuesday night they have a tapas special. The food was great and the service could not have been better.

We ate at Dye's lunch buffet about 2 years ago, and came back for the Friday evening buffet. A main entree at lunch was fried chicken, which was tasty. DH thinks Dye makes the best greens he's ever had. Check out the menu at the link below. You can get the buffet only on certain days for lunch.

We'd read lots of posts that if you don't have a reservation, you might not feel very welcomed. Dye was in the kitchen and didn't come out for 5 minutes to seat us, even after someone told her we were standing at the front door. At least we weren't surprised and expected the wait would be worth it. She's a very hard working lady.

We didn't stop for lunch until ~ 1:15 and it looked like most people come earlier than that ..... everything was getting picked over. Dye said she was making some more fried chicken, but we were hungry and found plenty to eat with the food that was there. Her restaurant is small and she seemed more interested in serving a good meal of fresh food over the course of a shorter period of time than packing people in or keeping the buffet open for hours. Since we were the last ones in the restaurant, we got a chance to talk with her when she wasn't as busy. She was a very, very interesting person who became quite friendly and told us a lot about her food and the gullah culture. It sounded like she knew some of the DVC staff and appreciated that they recommended her restaurant to DVCers.

Eating at Dye's was a special experience that we will definitely do whenever we can get to go to HH again. We talk about Dye at least once a month and periodically look at her menu, just to remind us of the time we got to spend there.

There in the marina, just over the bridge, in the shopping area there is a great little hole in the wall place called Parrot Cove. We had a great lunch there. Loved the coconut shrip. It's not fancy but it was a great lunch.

We've already tried Parrot Cove. We didn't enjoy it at all. Maybe it was just a bad day.

We ate at Guisseppi's last night. Yummy! We are getting ready to go to Steamer Seafood tonight. I'll let everyone know how it is.

I also booked Dye's lunch buffet for tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to it.

We are going to do take-out at One Hot Mamma's. I will probably add an appetizer and get the chocolate BBQ ribs which sound so interesting.

I know we are going to go to Alligator Grille for dinner one night since I bought the coupon.

We have two dinners left to decide. From this list, which would you choose:
Skull Creek Boathouse-leaning toward this one based on several reviews here
Frankie Bones
Red Fish
Kingfisher-convenient location
Tapas Restaurant-interested in more info

I really need suggestions on just these places. I appreciate everyone's recommendations, but I have looked at MANY menus and these are the ones that appeal to us. TIA!!!
