Anyone else going to be @ HHI next week? We'll be checking in Sunday 4/6 & out Friday 4/11. Plan to Kyack (sp?), boat, walk the beach, Pickney Island, rent bikes, look for dolphins & EAT - lots. Any other "must dos" for the first timer? (first time to HHI) :bounce:

We'll be there! I can't wait. I'm going through severe Hilton Head withdrawal.

On Friday, if you're near a fax machine, call the resort and ask them to fax you the activity schedule for next week. That way you can see what's available and when. I think the resort is going to be pretty full, so if there's something you really want to do, you can even call in advance and get your name in!

Bojo, I was recently a first-timer at HH, and I miss it sooo much! I definitely agree about the activity schedule, although we were told that unless an activity had a fee, we couldn't reserve more than 24 hours in advance. If they have the Secrets of the Marsh, Behind the Ears, or Logview Cooking Club, I'd really recommend them. Also, if you're with family that likes to collect seashells on the beach, put on your sunglasses (which I wish I'd done) and do that. Actually, there wasn't an activity that we did that I wouldn't recommend. Also, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the cost of the bike rental-$25 for the length of stay.

We will be there! We arrive on Sunday, depart Friday as well. We are staying in a 1-bedroom this stay. Last year year was a studio.

We love HH! Here are some of our plans:

Mini Golf

South Beach (Salty Dog)

Harbor Town (cool playground, lighthouse)

Beach Club (fruity drinks by the pool!)

Camp Fires

Just hanging out at the pool, taking in a good book, watching my girls having the time of their lives.

We have been going to HH for the past 16 years, we became dvc members two years ago. We so love HH....living in Atlanta, it is only a 5 hour drive, and we really feel like we can get away from it all!!!

Have fun!

Disneymagicmom, please report on which 1 BR you get and how you like it. Thanks. We love the 1 BR at HH, although I must admit that we stayed in a studio AFTER we'd already gotten spoiled by a 1 BR, that may have colored our opinion. Anyways, there are 16 1 BRs at HH and I'm trying to collect info on every one. BTW, 1137 was ours-very nice.

We HAVE to meet you -- we live in Marietta!

Maybe all us DISers who will be there can do that new member event that Chef Gordon has going now?

Hi, we'll be at HH the week after but I have a bicycle question if anyone can answer. If you rent for the week or bring your own bikes, where do you keep them?

This will be our first time at HH and I'm anxious to do many of the things I been reading about. Enjoy!

Dottie,

I would love to meet up with my fellow DVC friends! We will be arriving on Sunday around 3 pm. We are wide open as far as our itinerary. We just go with the flow!

You can email me at: kurnett@mindspring.com and hopefully we can meet. I have two DD ages 10 and 5.

Talk to you soon!

You can request a lock (or locks) when you rent your bikes and lock them to the porch or a tree. Sometimes when people bring their own, they will lock them on the landing, but I don't want someone else to have to maneuver around our bikes.

I don't know what size unit you'll be in, but we were in the main lodge. Underneath there's a parking garage with an area for bikes where we kept our bikes. BTW, we didn't have to ask for the lock, it was automatically included.

Thanks for all the info on HH. DW & I will be in a 1 BR and plan to make the most of our time there. Any suggestions on views?

Startin' to get excited!:Pinkbounc

Could the HHI veterans please provide details for the beach ?

My family needs to use chairs and an umbrella at the beach, what are our options? I thought these would be there, probably for a fee, just like Vero Beach. Am I correct?

Is there a lifeguard?

Can you rent boogie boards?

Is there food service to your spot on the beach? Did you pack your own lunch? Eat at Disney's Beach House, return to your villa?

Is there any shade around the Beach House pool, other than at the eating area?

I'm trying to figure out how much stuff to schlep from PA- chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, cooler= yikes!

Arriving on Sat. and leaving Wed. Meeting friends Sat. and the couple will stay until Sun. and their 16 yr. old daughter will stay the rest of the week with us (our 10 3/4 yr. old daughter).

Anyway know the possible activities this week???? Someone mentioned you can get the list faxed...

Thanks,
d:D

Will try to answer your questions upon our return. Got to start packin'!!

Rumplemom:

I don't think that you said when your trip will be.

During the "high" season, there ARE chairs and umbrellas to rent at the beach. They're kind of pricey, as I recall. We bring our own. I've even heard of people who buy their own at WalMart and just leave them at the beach or at the resort, if they don't have room to take them home! But, of course, the rentals are much nicer. ;)

I don't know the exact dates of when the lifeguards are on duty. Again, that will depend on your trip, too.

I don't recall any place that rents boogie boards. I know there's a small store in Palmetto Dunes (along the route to the beach house) that SELLS them, but I don't know if they rent them. Again, there's a Super WalMart on the island, where you can get them relatively inexpensively, in case you don't have room to bring them home with you.

There is not food service to your spot on the beach. We have done all your options at one time or another -- gone back up to the beach house (Signals), brought our own, or returned to the villa. There are lots of options!

There IS shade at the beach house, other than at the eating area. Again, depending on when you go, it can sometimes be kind of crowded there.

I would definitely recommend bringing a cooler -- as far as the rest of it goes, if you have room for it, you'll probably be able to make use of it; if not, you can figure out what you need when you get there!

Hey Dotterson,

We are from Alpharetta and we will be there from Sunday-Friday. I have a 10 yr old DD, maybe we will see you around!! I am calling on Friday, to get the activity list faxed to us so we can pour over it while we drive.

Can't wait to get there!

Sharon :D

Maybe we can set something up for the girls!? Want to email me privately? dotters@bellsouth.net (Or at least, tell me what's up on the schedule. I supose I could have them fax it to me as well, but this is might be more fun!)

Danielle

we wil be going to HH in may but are staying at BCV first can they fax the activities schedule to us there as we will be travelling from the uk
Thanks Paulh

Anybody looked at the weather predictions for next week? :( 40 - 60% chance of scattered t-stroms. OK all you HH experts - just how scattered are scattered t-storms? Are they like the mid-afternoon t-storms in FLA? I have a feeling I'm going to be happy we splurged on a 1-BR for the two of us - we may be spending a lot of time in the villa!

But, I'm ready to go!:Pinkbounc

I'm really not worried about the rain at HH. There is so much else to do there, that we've always had a good time, rain or shine. (Although I do have to admit, I like the sunshine better, LOL!!)

Paulh, I'm sure that the resort will be happy to fax you the activity schedule while you're at the BCV. Just ask!

BTW, for all who will be there next week, I did find out that Chef Gordon's member-only event at the beach house will be at 5:00 on Monday! Don't know the cost, but I do know that we will be there!!
