I've always wanted to try the Hilton in DTD. The Bonnet Creek Property is another on the bucket list but I want to utilize pm EMH this trip so it's off the table.

Booked a great room only rate @ CBR for June via Orbitz for a trip for just DH & I. We'll have a car and APs will negate parking fee at the parks.

I noticed that the Hilton is pricing out only $15 more a night (including taxes, resort & parking fee) more than i'm paying for CBR. Tempted to swtich but have a couple of questions:

1) can't remember if there is a traffic light in front of Hilton to allow easy access to the parks. Traffic always seems busy in the area and I don't want to have to fight to loop back around.

2) pool area although pleasant enough doesn't appear to have much 'wow' factor (although we do plan on visiting WPs during our stay so not as much of an issue)

3) would be happy with more of an adult/quiet hotel, not sure if this would apply or not based upon the reviews i've read on tripadvisor.

4) for those who have stayed @ the Hilton, would you return? I saw one recent review here where the poster checked out within a day, something to do with CC issue/long checkin and dissatisfaction with the level of customer service. We don't frequent Hilton properties often but have always been happy with our stays.

The Hilton in Downtown Disney is very nice. Rooms are large and good sized bathrooms. The travel time to the parks will depend on the park and the time of day. Traffic on Hotel Plaza Blvd is always busy. If you come out of the Hilton and turn left, you would hit signals all the way thru Downtown Disney areas and see signs leading you to your choice of parks.

There is another Hilton on property called the Hilton Bonnet Creek. Another great Hilton and the rooms are nice and have nice bathrooms. The pool at the Bonnet Creek is probably one of the best pools in all of the Hiltons in the US.

if you going shopping would switch to the Hilton - being able to walk to DD is a big plus

now if you are only going to the parks stay with CRB

Hilton DTD is the only DTD property that has access to extra magic hours. I was very happy with our DTD stay (double tree) and wouldn't hesitate to stay in DTD again.

Once you add in the HIlton's $22 per night resort fee and the $13 for self parking ($20 for valet) you might be getting pretty close to the CBR rate with a good discount.

$22 PER NIGHT - does that include free wifi and gym access?

Their website says:

Resort Charge

Daily Resort Charge of $22 (plus tax) per room, per night will be added to the room rate and includes: local/toll-free calls; HSIA; 2 reg cups of Starbucks coffee; 20pct discount in Restaurants/Bars (ex. Benihana); Trans to the Disney Parks & Extra Magic Hours Program.

I refuse to stay anywhere with one of these "resort charges". Just give me the price of the room. Don't tell me the room rate is one thing then tell me I have to pay this extra mandatory fee for things I don't want. It's deceptive and dishonest IMO.

though someone was working on stopping these type of fees?

don't remember if it was the tourism industry or the Florida government???

Agreed.

not big shopping in Orlando but like idea of being able to stroll to DTD for dining

Hmmm

Interior cooridors
Better bedding
A real rewards program where you can earn free stays

All considerations for me. (And CBR is my favorite Disney moderate)

high praise...i need to call and see if the rate will qualify since it's heavily discounted

not sure when you are going - but right now the Hilton DD is $79 per night.

think that is alot less than the CBR.

would you believe CBR is now pricing out approx $230 a night for my dates:faint:?

i wish DTD Hilton would be that low for my dates! the best standard rate i see is in area of $160 a night, LMT is $10 less a night.

re resort fees in Orlando, a pain but i expect them at this point. It's the self-parking fees that really irritate me.

will hang onto the discounted orbitz booking for CBR and hope for AP rates but went ahead & booked the Hilton...will sort it all out before we arrive.

jik anybody looking for the rate "SPRING SALE", it was booked through downtown disney hotels' newsletter stated as $99, wound up at $136.xx day, including all taxes/resort fee but not the parking.

fyi the 'free' HSIA they provide is in public areas of hotel

Update orbitz is having another sale this weekend with 20% off

Cancelled existing booking and now paying $86 a night, saving $70 overall.

Net price including all taxes and parking is $132 a day/$662 total for 5 nights, which is fully refundable up until 5 days prior to arrival jik i find a better rate there betwen now & then;)

My company just paid $959.92 for me to be there for 4 days. Included in that price was my self park charge and resort charge. I have been to WDW 10 times and would never pay to stay here out of my own pocket.

Pros:
Fast Elevators

Starbucks

Close to DTD

Cons:
Had to fix the toilet, the plunger stuck

The safe was opened but locked, I tried to explain this to the front desk but they just thought I had know idea how to use a safe. Once the maintenance person showed up he said "Hay this things opened but locked". Glade I had Columbo there to crack the case.

AC would only go down to 72 deg. I work for a AC company and reprogramed the thermostat.

The refrigerator was left open and the freezer was a block of ice.

Parking was always full.

I have stayed at DTD Hilton several times and would never compare the experience to a Disney moderate. I would only consider it for an ultra budget trip. I beleieve the most I've paid is around $85 and would have much preferred a Disney value resort if I could have gotten it for the same price. No charm, no resort feel, businees like . If you do not care about the Disney "immersion" at all, it's okay, but nothing special.

since we're doing an adult's only trip, i look forward to not being immersed 24-7;) and still getting the EMH since we do a few trips a year I don't have any issue staying offsite (really enjoy the Hyatt Grand Regency but wanted to walk to DTD).

fyi: update that i called the hotel to change my plans to 4 nights @ DTD (and the rest of stay @ PBH) I was shocked to find my rates had dropped like a rock:dance3::

Rate per night: 67.20 USD 08 Jun 2013 - 11 Jun 2013
79.20 USD 11 Jun 2013 - 12 Jun 2013
Total for Stay per Room:Rate280.80 USD
Resort Charge88.00 USD
Taxes46.10 USD
Total414.90 USD
Total for Stay:
414.90 USD Includes estimated taxes and service charges. (Gratuities not included.)

my rates @ PBH also dropped substantially when i checked this past weekend and many rooms added to inventory (assume that they released a block of rooms being held for a convention?) to $204 a night!
