Hilton Bonnet Creek or POR?

Please help with our dilemma: Would you choose a standard room at Hilton Bonnet Creek or one of the new Royal Guest Rooms at Port Orleans?

My family of 3 has stayed at Hilton Bonnet Creek on both of our WDW holidays. We found it very comfortable, quiet and convenient with a rental car.

We're booked again for a third holiday, but I'm hesitating now because we could save about $500 by staying in a Royal Guest Room with free dining.

I know my DD12 would enjoy all of the princess touches in the Royal Room, so I'm really tempted. We also, though, are light sleepers. At HBC, we hardly heard a peep out of our conference-attending neighbours, so that was a massive plus for us. We also enjoyed the high quality bedding and room service, and generally glam environment.

EMH and other Disney Resort perks are not all that tempting to us, so the main pluses at POR would be the fun of the Royal Guest Room and the saving of money. We will really only be at our resort to sleep.

Please post if you have any thoughts about this!

Hi! This is our dilemma as well. Never tried Hilton Bonnet Creek and a number of our friends have stayed there. Timing is key, so if the room rate is a go, then I would jump. Got a great AAA rate and have decided to split the stay! We'll be staying at RGR on a GP discount as the AP discount does not apply. You never know until you try, and with the lack of an AP discount and the allure of points/quality it's just too much not to try. Mears shuttle I found @ $21/pp one way. Room rate $125 two queens Disney view. Will stay at RGR the second half of our stay and take the ME back to the airport.

Have fun whatever you decide:goodvibes:goodvibes

I've stayed at both resorts. This is a tough one....I probably would go with the $500 savings.

To break it down.... we are not hotel snobs at all but the HBC is gorgeous and I would pick that over POR in a heartbeat. However, we really enjoy having the DDP and for a $500 savings it would be a no brainer for me. Usually, the money makes my decisions.

We have never stayed at HBC but we did stay at POR royal room this past April. The rooms is nice and new but too small for our family of four IMO.

Edited: sorry I thought you were talking about the condos at the timeshare property at BC.

Between the Hilton and the Royal Guest Rooms. For a savings of $500, I'd be tempted to give the onsite experience a try. Yes, it will be a step down in terms of luxe/posh level, but $500 can pay for enough cocktails to mask that.. :)

Thanks so much, everyone! Sounds like a split stay with a little pocket money might be the way to go!

By the way, I noticed that 2 of 4 respondents to this thread are Canadian. I'm Canadian, too. Do you think that Canadians are more likely to stay offsite?

I am a self proclaimed hotel snob, and the Hilton Bonnet Creek is one of my favorite hotels. In fact, I might go so far as to say it's my favorite hotel in Orlando.

That said, I stayed at POR for the first time last month and really enjoyed it. It takes a lot to impress me with hotels, and we had a great stay.

If the choice is save $500 with free dining, I'd take that deal any day.

If it helps, here's two reviews I did of each. Port Orleans Riverside and Hilton Bonnet Creek...

Nope.....we are diehard onsite folks. I stay off site when I vacay with friends as it's usually not a park trip.
